Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.
I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.
Thanks kirstens! I was trying to see if I wanted to wait to get into UMSON next semester or try to apply for another school/program. UMSON is my #1 choice just like many of you on here! But I am just scared I will get wait listed or rejected again. I do not want to prolong my nursing career any more than I have to!
Brooke_ and hopeful 2015, you can try to give them a call but I am sure you guys will hear something by this week!!
Hi guys!
I have also been following this page for awhile. I was wait listed for the Fall 2014 semester and am currently waiting to hear my decision for the spring. I check my status a million times a day and it's starting to drive me crazy. Hopefully we hear back today or by the latest, Friday.
I already had my online accepted student chat. They are looking for those with a strong science background. So if you have alot of Cs ( more than 3) they are concerned that you will not be successful in the nursing program. In addition to that, GPA above a 3.0, volunteer/healthcare experience, and TEAS above 80% I believe.
fitkitty- Have hope and keep your chin up! I am proof that persistence pays off. It took me 7 years to slowly get through the pre-req's and 3 application cycles to get in. But I'm in now. Stay on the wait list and keep applying. Being waitlisted means you meet admission criteria. So just stick to it, and it can turn out in your favor! It's a long, hard wait, but it's worth it and will have a meaningful payoff!
