Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.
I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.
My overall GPA is a 3.44 and I have all A's and B's in my science courses so far, except for Biology. I have re-taken 2 courses and I was taking General Chemistry last semester and dropped it but am re-taking it again now.
My over-all TEAS score was a 75%. I know it's not what they are looking for so I will definitely take it again. My score this time was better than it was last time.
I looked at the program of the CC I am at now but I am out of county and they said they haven't accepted an out county student in many years. I will have to look more into the program of the CC of the county I reside in. The website and information about it is very confusing to navigate.
Unfortunately (on many levels) when Priyanka called me I was performing the heimlich maneuver on an itty-bitty 2nd grader! I missed her call. She left just a brief message and told me I could call if I had questions, but I didn't feel it was necessary. I was out all afternoon and just got home (9:00pm) and checked my mail. Nothing was in there. Hopefully early week.
Lemme ask..........where do we go to pay our seat fee's? Or is this information coming in the packet?
littlemango -- AHH CONGRATS!! I knew you'd get in girlie :)) I know you're going to be an amazing nurse!! Thanks so much for starting this thread and for moderating so well.
katiep_123 -- i would definitely get some volunteer experience--any medical experience--on your resume, and really work on your essays. perhaps get a friend who is already in nursing or med school to look it over? i would also try to get a higher TEAS score if possible. in my case, i think my healthcare experience and essays really helped me. my grades were good, but my TEAS score could've been higher, so i'm thinking that experience and the essay portion really worked in my favor.
bcandygurl -- i think it was you that answered my question?? thanks for that!
this is to everyone -- the UMSON checklist! http://www.nursing.umaryland.edu/media/SON/Admissions/Checklist-for-Admitted-BSN-CNL-Students-Online-Version.pdf
it says on there that you must sign the form AND pay your deposit within 2 weeks of your dated acceptance letter. i recommend everyone to print this form out and check things off as you go! :)
