Hello, all!
My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!
I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:
A: A&P 1
A: A&P 2
B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)
I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)
I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.
I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!
Anyone knows how often we will be wearing the uniform
Depends on your class schedule. For me, mostly 2 times/week and by the end of the semester 3 times/week. The first few weeks you can get by with one uniform but it is nice to have at least two later in the semester. You only need to wear your uniform to lab classes and clinicals. When you only have lectures you don't need to wear it.
For holiday gifts: You also need a stethoscope (early in the semester---lots of us have the littman classic II) and a pen light for pupil checks/looking in mouths by the end of the semester. A bunch of also bought blood pressure cuffs so we could practice at home.
@Microgal thanks. How about books when I checked out required books there are usually more than one required book for a course sometimes as many as 5 for just one course. Do we have to get all of those
Not really. You need the books (1 each) for 316-research and 310-professional role but you can rent them. Definitely get the Jarvis Book and workbook for 319 (assessment)--tests come right out of the book. For 314 (physio pharm) the Porth and Lehne books are good to clarify things but we were able to use 3rd edition for Porth and 8th edition for Lehne to save a bundle of money. Not sure if that will be the same for your class. These are also used in 2nd semester. The school bookstore only has the new editions. For fundies (317) you need 3 electronic resources but you may want to wait for the syllabus or first class to buy. You don't need hard copy books for fundies unless you prefer to learn that way. I personally never read the Miller book.
All texts are available in the library and most are in the student success center for use while there.
