Umson spring 2016 applicants

Published

Hello, all!

My name is Christina Smith! I know I started this thread a little soon, but I am sure others are just as anxious as I am about applying! I have submitted my application for the spring 2016 program :cat: I just want to post some background information about myself, and anyone who has been accepted to previous semesters can share some insight with me if the wish!

I have a 3.9 GPA. My science gpa is as follows:

A: A&P 1

A: A&P 2

B Micro (Which was taken in 5 weeks, do they view the length of the semester?!)

I have gotten As in all of my other courses, and just need algebra and chemistry (which I am taking together this fall.)

I have been a CNA for 2.5 years, and have worked as a med tech for 14 months, and have recently been employed by Carroll Hospital as a MED/SURG PCT.

I have not taken my TEAS, but have purchased a study guide and plan to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!

I was accepted into my community college's ADN program, but I want to step outside my comfort zone and head towards my dream school. I am so nervous!!!!!!!!!

I just got a call from admissions and I was taken off the waiting list! I am now a Provisional Admit at Shady Grove! :)

Aw :') congrats qiqi!! Will you be attending UMB now instead of Towson?

Yes I will. Towson was my second choice :)

That's awesome. I'm so happy for you!! At least one of us from the wait list has been admitted

Thank you so much. And I hope you as well as others get in as well! :)

I'm jelly! Lol jk I'm happy for ya qiqi95. How did all of you complete the prerequisites for both umson and Towson and other schools? I completed my prerequisites hoping to get into umson, and now that I've been waitlisted, I've looked at the prerequisites for Towson and other schools and they're very different and specific! Very frustrating, I'm not willing to go back to community college to complete a whole bunch of extra classes just to fulfill their specific class demands just for eligibility. There needs to be some kind of universal agreement these schools come to on prerequisites, because with all the bull$hit hurdles we nursing students have to go through trying to get into nursing programs and such, this is all just too much!

congrats qiqi95! That's so exciting!!!

Thanks! And try not to worry about it. You have until January 8 so you never know. :)

Towson's prerequisites are very similar to UMB's ones. Except Towosn wants Precalculus, and Nutrition for Health Professionals

Congratulations to those who got in!!

When I looked up Towson prerequisites, they electives were practically preselected for you, as opposed to UMSON. Towson makes you get a certain amount of credits in specific categories, like global culture and north American history. It's frustrating because I completed everything for UMSON but townsfolk is so specific that they practically tell you exactly which electives and humanities and such to take. I'm not paying to take more courses when I've already completed my degree and I just find that frustrating. I think universities should have a more universal requirement they all agree on, so that if you fill the prerequisites for one you are not necessarily not filling the transfer requirements for another.

*but Towson is so specific

I have applied to Towson and got accepted to the nursing program. never did I took global culture for a prerequisite and I did take US history but it was a prerequisite for my associates degree of general studies. The only difference I saw between both programs is the nutrition class is different. Towson didn't accept my nutrition for PGCC but accepted

CSM health professional nutrition class so I had to take it there. In addition to the stats prerequisite, Towson makes you take both algebra and trigonometry or have the other option of taking just pre calculus. Umson only requires stats and algebra and that's it.

Hmmm I wonder why the information about prerequisites for Towson that I found online seems so different from what everyone on here is saying. I guess I'll have to go to Towson so I can get more definite answers. That's for sharing everyone!
