You get used to the "checkerboard" neighborhoods. North Avenue, the Hilton Parkway area, Edmonson, Frederick Road from the city line to where it turns into Pratt St...all of those are grungy, shady areas. Irvington and Ten Hills neighborhoods are ok-ish. Park Heights is a combination of Orthodox Jewish and ghetto. Hampden was once cute, now it's hip and expensive. Hamilton has improved and is on the up-and-up. Pig Town, meh. Federal Hill, Butchers Hill, Fells Point, areas near Camden Yards- expensive. West of Ravens Stadium is sketchy. Near MICA (Howard Street) and the Ottobar is decent. (North Ave intersects Howard and is ok there.)

Just spend time driving around. Don't be scared! You just get used to it. Practice your swagger and city speak. You learn to adapt in order to blend in, when you need to.

When we all get accepted, we should meet up in Bmore for a tour/hang out/lunch/ballgame! I'd be happy to do a driving tour.

New here! I just got the email about confirming our preferred campus too. Is this something they've done in the past?

I am new here, and I also just received the preferred campus email. While, I am TRYING to remain calm during this whole nursing school application waiting process, I have to admit I got kind of worked up when I saw a UMDSON email in my spam folder. Glad to know somebody else also received it! Now I just need to calm myself back down, and stop over analyzing what this could mean, because it sounds like we still have a decent wait before they let us know... Best wishes everyone!

OMG you guys! I got the email too!!! I wanted to post it but I was at the gym. So as it turned out UMB did contact me today after all! I LITERALLY almost feel off the treadmill when I saw it was from the Admissions Office!! SO what are we supposed to do? I mean we don't have IDs yet! (fingers crossed I'll be getting one! I wanna be accepted soooo bad!!)

Did anyone make a different choice? To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what campus I chose the 1st time around but I'm def leaning towards B-more. Since Shady grove means commuting from mom's house and i need a break!

Just so that everyone calms down:

"Thank you for completing the Location Confirmation Form.

The information you provided will be used to confirm the location you intend to attend, if admitted to the program. The information does not have any bearing on whether or not you will be admitted to the program.

Admissions decisions will be released within the coming weeks."

I think we'll be hearing something before the 16th...I got a feeling!

I just found out about this place and I read a lot of interesting things from u all, I wish I started the journey with u all. Anyways I will start here I also got the mail about the campus thing and was hoping it was good news and either it is good news which means we are all about to get accepted or it is just the process they follow with all students
