UMSON Fall 2014
Hey Hello, I am accepted for this fall 2014 at Shady Grove. They have a couple of scholarships. We were only required to send ONE application, but we will be considered for all scholarships. We have not found out yet whether we got it or not. I heard by late August. I am not sure if it's the same process for Baltimore students though.

ADVICE NEEDED! Fall Semester Dilema
Hey PinkEagle, I am sorry that you are in such a tough situation. At least you are waitlisted at UMSON so you still have a chance of being accepted. I am afraid of debt so take my advice with a grain of salt. If I were you, I would wait it out until the spring. I mean there is really not much difference between september and january anyway. During this time you can retake your teas (if you need to improve it), you can take other courses to raise your gpa, volunteer at hospitals and work more hours to save money. All of these will increase your chances and you'll have the advantage that less people apply for the spring. Take some time to think about it, but try to make your decision early so a person who is waitlisted at Towson can have your position in case that is what you decide. I hope everything works out!

Montgomery College Fall 2014
Hey ambz13, Thank you for the well wishes! I hope you get accepted at MC and that your schedule works out fine. I know a couple of people who do clinicals at Holy Cross so maybe I can ask them about their typical schedule when I volunteer next week. LacrimosaPS, I think as long as you have the minimum requirements your chances are still high. I would think you should hear back the same time that we do even though you are out of state. We'll keep each other posted and I hope you hear back when we do!

Montgomery College Fall 2014
Ambz13, Yes for someone who is busy and wants/has to work an ASN is definitely a smarter option. If I did go to MC, I was looking into doing an online program after I get my ASN. Luckily, I have the option not to work during nursing school and I am kind of putting off my "family life" for that reason. I am married, but we don't have any children yet. That's why going for an ASN first was not my top option.

Montgomery College Fall 2014
Hi ProspectRN, Yes, I started this thread. There is no way that I "downgraded" the school nor the program. I transferred to MC from a traditional 4year university and I advise every high school senior to start at a community college, specifically mc for many reasons besides financially. As far as it being a waste of time, I simply explained why MC was not my first choice. Clearly that was my opinion and reasoning. What I meant by that anyway is that my end goal is to become a pediatric np. I am a woman who wishes to start a family in the near future and I don't hope to juggle school, a career as an rn and being a mom and wife for too long. I have been in school long enough and going for my associate, then having work experience as an rn, then finding a new school for my bsn and going through the hassle of expired science courses, then doing my bsn, applying to a dnp program then finally becoming a nnp while I can shorten that process is why mc was not my top choice. Do I think ASN is less than a BSN? Absolutely not. Timewise, a bsn is more suitable for me. I am not sure why you got worked up by my post, but in case I have offended you or your choice by my opinion, forgive me please. I have done research and will continue to do so.

Montgomery College Fall 2014
Hey everyone, I hope you all get to hear back soon! I am currently at MC (taking my prereq) and I love it. I have heard such wonderful things about the program. MC's program was not my top choice, because like you Em843, so many people told me that it is hard to get a job with an ASN nowadays. I also think of it as a slight waist of time to do 2 years, work then go back for a year or two and finally go for my masters/doctorate. I want to finish school as soon as possible. Luckily I got accepted at my top choice, UMSON, so I will be attending this fall.

I think it's safe to say you got in. I don't think they would call to reject you, that would be too cruel. Check your status online maybe it has changed!

Hey Husky2011, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll get better news from MC. You can also reapply for the spring semester. Although the decision may be tough now, over time you will appreciate why things happened this way. It's just how life works. I wish you the best!

Hey everyone, I got my call that I'm in about an hour ago. I checked my status online also and it says Admit-Institution. I am flabbergasted! I hope you all hear back soon and that it is good news. It has been a long wait but just hang on, I think they are supposed to be making calls all week and maybe even next week.
