Who is applying?

Like most of you, I am applying to the Baltimore campus. Even if I am accepted, I am not sure I will be able to go, although I would love to. I was already accepted at Towson, and because it is WAY more convenient, I am 90% sure I will go there. Towson will be about 90 minutes to 2 hours less driving per day (counting to and from my house), when you factor in downtown traffic. That being said, I don't think I will know for sure until I hear from UMD. Shock trauma, university hospital, all of the research... seems like that's where the real action is. Maybe the decision will be made for me if I do not get in. Waiting...

I tried checking my application this morning on the SIMS webpage and it says Service Temporarily Unavailable. It looks like the website isn't working.

I just encountered the same thing. I guess we're all trying to get on at once! I needed to get my student ID# so I can complete the location confirmation. (Why didn't I write it down before?!) This was the one thing I delayed my nap for. Looks like now I have time to take a nap before work. :)

Same here the message isn't working. Hopefully this means it is being updated. I have a feeling we'll get to hear back by next week since the location confirmation is due this Sunday.
I'm inclined to think it could easily be another week after this Sunday's deadline for the confirmation form. They'll need a few days to sort out which applicants would be at which campus, then see how many and who is in the applicant pool for each, then determine which ones merit acceptance for each campus. This was not part of the process for the Spring 2014 applicants. As much as I *want* a decision next week, I'm not expecting it.
Luckily, I'll be moving over the next few weeks, so I have something BIG to keep me very busy while I wait! I'm also going to see
Dr. ******* give a presentation next week. I have waited for his event for 4 months, and I am REALLY excited. And I have a Physics exam next week. Plenty of things to keep me busy! I'm all about the distractions from my application!

I have a question, I am taking a class at the moment and I am seriously considering dropping the class and taking it over the summer. If I drop it and email them that I plan to take it over the summer, will I still be considered for fall admission?
As far as I know, yes. If any of us are accepted and still have classes in progress, our status would be "Provisional Admit." They want to see your official transcript as soon as possible after you complete the class. I waited to take the CLEP test for Algebra until just a few days before orientation for the spring semester. (but fell short of passing by 2 points, which is why I'm not in the program now!) The only thing is that, as you can see by my experience, it doesn't leave you much wiggle room. They were still looking at transcripts the day we walked into orientation. Another student and I didn't make the cut, right at the last minute. As long as your grades are fine, you'll be fine.

@katie which class are you taking?
Chemistry. It's just not working for me at the moment and I know summer is condensed. I've taken micro last summer and it was fine. There's just a lot going on and I can't focus
If you can register for a summer section before you drop it, and as long as admissions knows you're signed up for it, I think you'd be fine. Towson might offer a 5 week version of it during the summer.. If you need professor recommendations for that let me know.
I go to AACC and I have a couple if professors that I hope can teach the course. I like my professor now but the way he teaches just doesn't work for how I like to learn.
I hope we hear back from UMSON this week!
