UMSON Fall 2014

Published

Deadline is set - February 3, 2014

Who is applying?

Ditto, erikall. This is seriously throwing a wrench in my plans.

End of the month would be painful, fingers crossed for April 15th. I do know that UM has had numerous school closings this winter due to inclement weather, which may affect admissions since employees are off and possibly that is why they expect to be behind compared to previous years.

They said that last application cycle too. We thought we'd hear back Nov 1. and when someone in the forums called they said no one would be hearing anything until mid-novemeber. Calls ended up going out the next day.

They -hate- when people call to check on these things, so they tend to tell them longer so people wait to harass them!

That being said I just locked myself out of my SIMS account by entering the wrong password too many times so I can't check my status until I get a call. Go me!

I was looking at the post from last fall and people started being notified around the first or second week of April, like the 8th or somewhere around there. I hope we don't have to wait until the end of the month!

I Hope we know prior to that. My housing contract is due if I plan to stay at my institution WAY before the end of the month, so Im hoping we know within the next week or else ill be homeless :(

Has anyone applied for housing yet? One of my good friends has an apartment leased by the college and one of her roommates is moving out so I got her spot! Hopefully I will actually get in!

I already inquired about housing and we're not allowed to apply until we are accepted/ enrolled. I just hope I get a flat yes or no so that I can move on! I can't handle another wait list situation like Salisbury. But katiep_123 if you know someone else who has housing available, please let me know!;)

Those who are worried about housing - be sure to look on the shared/rooms section of craigslist baltimore when your accepted and just search UMB or UMSON. There are always students who've just moved in that need roommates! Thank goodness because the school has NO dorms (except for the one strip at the back of campus.)

I know it's early but anyone NOT moving to Baltimore? If I got in I'd be commuting about 20/30 min.

I will be commuting too, I live about 30 minutes away. I heard there is a shuttle, but not sure where it picks up or anything. I was also thinking about using the metro.

I was thinking about driving to the light rail station and taking that in, or I've also heard that biopark is cheaper than the other garage. No way am I spending $6 a day to park near Lexington and get robbed. I'm staying in towson, and I'd be down to carpool!

I will be moving to Baltimore, but I live in Little Rock and I am not familiar with the area. I think I have narrowed my apartment hunting down to three buildings/communities. it would be awesome if you guys could give me some insight into whether they are in good or bad parts of town. Charles Towers on North Charles Street, Marlboro Classic which is just a couple blocks down the street from the school, and The Standard at Preston Gardens on St. Paul street. I know this isn't exactly nursing related, but it is difficult to make a decision based off pictures from the internet and I was hoping you guys might have a little better insight!
