Hi,
I got the good news today around 2:45. I was admitted to my first choice, MCC! It was a nerve wracking day. First we were told the run would be started at 11:00, then it was 12:00-12:30, then it was 3:00. I wasn't nervous yesterday or this morning but as the day went on my stomach started to churn.
I'm really excited to be starting. I've been working almost 2 years towards this. The only downside to it is that none of my study buddies have been admitted yet. I was hoping that we could go through the program together.
Hopefully after the first run there will be more openings.....

I haven't been on here because I've been in a serious depression about this. I didn't get in. After working almost two years on my pre-req's and maintaining a pretty high GPA, none of it matters, it's all up to some computer to determine how your life will go. So my dh has to continue working another 70-80 hours a week while I wait out ANOTHER semester for this. I'm so mad/disappointed right now I could scream.
Awww, I am so sorry, but all hope is NOT lost. Some of the people in my class were not accepted on the first run, but spots opened up due to others not paying their bill, dropping, etc. You can get an admission letter even one week before classes start! You applied summer, didn't you? So you have waited one semester (fall) ? Seems like you should have gotten in. Hmmm. Don't lose hope yet!
Mary, :balloons: I am happy for you!
I am so truly sorry. Please take the time to relax and sort your feelings. Best wishes to you.
Thanks guys, I knew if anyone would understand you would. I know it's a possibility that some people may not accept etc., but my number is so high it would take over 100 people to not accept for me to get in practically. What really upsets me is that I was told by some of the advisors that they had even accepted some spring app's for the fall classes, that meant that they'd cut into some of the spring app's and that those people hadn't even waited ONE semester. So I figured that with less app's due to people waiting for the CNA to go away, PLUS they'd already taken some of the spring applicants, that there wouldn't be a problem. I did apply this summer and have already sat out the fall semester. I've got all my co-req's done as well (I'm taking my last two right now). I talked to a friend that also applied this summer, she has a lower number than me, and she didn't get in either, so that means they didn't even make it to her number. That's a lot of people who will have to drop for me to get in. And who would possibly drop after spending two years on pre-req's?? I'll try and keep my hope up but waiting for Oct 4th was bad enough, I was a basket case ticking off the days, I can't imagine going through that every Tues from now until Jan.

Don't feel bad. I didn't get in either. I put my app in this summer as well. My number is 119 so what's yours? I'm hopeful that something will shake out before classes begin in January. I'd love to be in class with Mary cuz' she's such a good student
I've been at this for more than two years....20+ more like it. I started pre-nursing classes right out of high school. I got married, travelled with my hubby, had kids, etc., etc. Now's the time for me to finally finish. It's a bit disappointing to have the wind taken out of my sails by having to wait such a long time. I'm all done with my pre-req's, and I have ONE co-req left. Although, that is if they do away with the Patho requirement altogether. I'm in the first half now. So that leaves me taking one class in the spring and hopefully getting in Fall 2006. Ugh.

Hi Deanna,
I'm still hoping that you and Keli will get in....there should be more openings once they place the Scottsdale and Banner partnership people so don't give up hope yet! I really would love to be in the program together....
I'm sorry, I know how you feel. But I'm even worse off right now, my number is 141, and the only two programs that will work for me only admitted 20 students each. I really don't think there's much of a chance for me now. I was so excited when I heard that they'd already admitted some spring applicants to the fall '05 class, that means they didn't even wait one semester. That and the fact that there were fewer applicants than normal gave me a false hope that I"d get in, even with such a high lottery number. When I started all of this I figured since I already had a BS degree it would only take me two years or so for NS. Now it's going to have been 4.5 years before I"m finally finished!! It's just not fair that people who are barely making it through the pre-req's and who probably won't make it through NS, are getting in and taking slots and then dropping/flunking out during block one, all because of this lottery system. I've also finished all my co-req's and wasn't planning on sitting out another semester, otherwise I would've taken patho next semester and FON now instead of both together.
I keep hearing on the news etc. about the nursing shortage, but if it takes so long to get in to NS what do they expect?? I figured it out, if they have 500 applicants one semester and only 300 get in, then there's 200 sitting out. next semester another 500 applicants, 300 slots, that's another 200 sitting out, or 400, etc. etc. etc. They can't possibly add enough programs to catch up with this.
