I have been checking back all day, waiting to see!!! Did y'all get in that were trying for Spring?? I am so anxious for you! I thought they were placing you today! Do tell!

I am waiting to  :w00t:

Actually, application week is at the end of October, but since there are still people who haven't been placed from March application week, they place them before taking the applications. So, technically you're applying for spring when you apply in October, but there's really not a chance you'll get it because it's full before you even apply, that's why there's at least a one semester wait. If you apply at the end of October, you'll still fill out an application for spring, you just won't get in. Then in March sometime, you'll update your application and hopefully get placed Fall '06.

So thats how it works! I see!! Well, if it helps those of you in maricopa county, pima county is placing for Fall 2007 and then the lottery system as well. So you guys, believe it or not, are really really lucky to only wait one or two semesters. Good luck guys!

I haven't heard of any other programs in Tucson. There is a Rio @ Tucson?? I'd sure like to know because my friend got placed for PCC in Aug 2008.

yes there is! If you log onto Rio's nursing page there is a link towatch a video for orientation under the current student headings. they talk about the Tucson program there....

Can someone please help me because I am a little confused. I am starting my pre-req's this Jan at MCC (got all the classes I wanted after waiting in line a 5 am Mon ). I know that you can not even apply fot the nursing program until you are in your last semster of Pre-req's. How is it that some people got in without a semester wait? Is it a lottery system? I thought it was just a waiting list. I really hope it is not a lottery because what if you are unlucky! UGH!!! Now I am worried :crying2:

Hi, yes it is a lottery system and there is usually a one semester wait. I am very unlucky as well but I did get a lottery # of 57 for spring application week. Even though they say it isn't first come first serve, I would still recommend that you turn your app in the first day of application week. Good luck! If you still need to take Bio 202, take it with Barbara MCGaughey, she is the absolute best Bio instructor!

If you are just starting your pre-req's I would seriously look into either Maricopa skills center or Estrella skills center. From what I've heard you can put your name on a waiting list while you're doing your pre-req's. Be warned, pre-req's will take a minimum of three semesters, if not more, b/c the biology classes are consecutive, BIO181 to BIO201 to BIO202, see what I mean? If you get into one of the skills centers you can complete your pre-req's while earning an LDN and then transfer for your RN after Block 2. I haven't really checked into it, this is just what I"ve been able to figure out from some of the people on here.

Also, I have a BS already, and because of the wait it will have taken me 4.5 years to finish NS, and that's going to school non-stop, without summers off for my pre-req's. I would be halfway through if I'd gone through the skills center.

Good luck with your classes, that's great that you got in them, that's almost the hardest part :rotfl:

I plan to finish all my pre-req's in 3 semesters, summer being one of them. I am quitting work to concentrate on school full time. Since I will have 5 science courses to complete I will have to double up for 2 semesters (UGH  ) and one of my double up semesters will be over summer which is shorter :bluecry1: . I am taking BIO 181 spring 06,Bio 201 & CHEM 101 in summer, and BIO 202 & 205 in fall. I know it will be a lot of work to take 2 sciences and 2 labs (along w/ 1 other class) but I am determined to get this done as soon as possible (my son starts school in August of 2008 so 2 tuituions!).

Stupid question but.....Why do they say there is a 1 to 2 semester wait to get into the nursing program if it is a lottery? Do they give students that have been passed up priority? If not and it is straight lottery EVERY TIME then haow can they say a 1 to 2 semester wait since there is no guarantee?

Well, I tried to stomach as much of that video as possible, but I didn't hear Tucson named. It was too dry and painful to watch. It sounds like it is a distance program, so anybody could take it. Maybe I'll just call them up and ask them. It would be great for a lot of folks down here because PCC is the only CC option.

sorry about that! I actually did watch it once and they had a group of students in Tucson. The program is online but they do their clinicls down in Tucson....Have your friend give them a call...it looked like an interesting program....

Sounds like you've done a lot more research than a lot of people. It is a lottery system in that they accept applications during a one week period in October for spring semester, March and June for Fall semester. They then put all those applications that they got during that week and randomly date/time stamp them every second. If you turn in an application in March for FAll you can pretty much guarantee you won't get in to Fall because they've run all the people on the waiting list from October, a couple of weeks before they accept the applications. They do not then reshuffle everyone, instead you keep your date/time stamp and every Tuesday they rerun all the applications that are left. If someone has dropped or deferred then you may be able to get in. They had 500 people who were waiting from last March and June and there were only 339 slots for spring. We had already sat out Fall, since we originally turned our applications in for the fall semester (which was already full before we even turned in our app's). Sort of confusing, I know, but for some strange reason this is how they do it. I was unlucky and got a bad number so I probably won't get in in the spring and will sit out my SECOND semester, hence the one to two semester wait.

I know how you're feeling, I have a son who starts college in Jan, and two daughters who will start next fall. TAlk about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Oh God, I can't imagine poor students having to come to our hospitals for their clinicals. The nurses couldn't be meaner. They are so angry about where we stand, park, eat, look, breathe.....It's a pretty painful experience for the most part. I have a lot of hospital experience, so I get a little better treatment than most of my fellow students, but it's still pretty, pretty painful. They always complain that there are too many of us (only 7 in my group). Yikes! Good luck to all out there!
