I have been checking back all day, waiting to see!!! Did y'all get in that were trying for Spring?? I am so anxious for you! I thought they were placing you today! Do tell!

I am waiting to  :w00t:

I plan to finish all my pre-req's in 3 semesters, summer being one of them. I am quitting work to concentrate on school full time. Since I will have 5 science courses to complete I will have to double up for 2 semesters (UGH  ) and one of my double up semesters will be over summer which is shorter :bluecry1: . I am taking BIO 181 spring 06,Bio 201 & CHEM 101 in summer, and BIO 202 & 205 in fall. I know it will be a lot of work to take 2 sciences and 2 labs (along w/ 1 other class) but I am determined to get this done as soon as possible (my son starts school in August of 2008 so 2 tuituions!). I doubled up on my sciences to while doing the prereqs. Kinda painful, but doable if you have the motivation. Which it sounds like you do! I highly, highly recommend getting on a waiting list at one of the skill centers. Either maricopa, or southwest (they are at gateway or estrella cc). the wait is easier because its an actual waiting list instead of a lottery. I am at southwest skill ctr (estrella) and I waited a year to get in, but did my prereqs during the wait. I am almost done with block one of the nursing program. it goes through to block two, and then I will take the state boards to get my LPN. Some schools have a 1 semester wait for LPN-RN, and some have a two semester wait (like Rio, which is what the assistant of nursing told me the other day) but at least you can work as an LPN while you wait. I am so glad I went this route instead of having to wait around for the lottery system to get me in.

i feel so much for those of you who didn't get in this time with the lottery system. I really wish they'd redo the way you can get into the cc programs! Its so unfair.

i found out today adjunct nursing faculty makes about $35/hr for doing clinicals! With how much we have to pay to get through these damn programs, youd think they'd pay ALL nursing instructors more so there wouldn't be such a shortage.

Oh look.........something to look forward to in an already depressing thread....:lol2:

Oh God, I can't imagine poor students having to come to our hospitals for their clinicals. The nurses couldn't be meaner. They are so angry about where we stand, park, eat, look, breathe.....It's a pretty painful experience for the most part. I have a lot of hospital experience, so I get a little better treatment than most of my fellow students, but it's still pretty, pretty painful. They always complain that there are too many of us (only 7 in my group). Yikes! Good luck to all out there!

I must really be out of the loop, cuz I had a total different understanding of the lottery system. I thought that when you applied during app week that if you did it DURING THAT WEEK, all those people got the same chances (at GCC it was a big podium that we stuck our app into). If you applied AFTER that week, you got date/time stamped and stuck into the lottery. I know that the people waiting 1+ semesters got in before me, but I got right in after a one semester wait. Does that mean out of that big pile of apps put in app week that I just got "lucky"?? I am totally in the blue here since I never even knew or cared what my lottery number was (I had to finish a pre req anyway).

   Totally clueless. I don't even know how you all managed to find out as much as you did!!!:lol2:

Thanks for the info! I will definately look into the skill centers!

I got an email back from the RIO people at Tucson. She said they have contracts with the VA and Carondelet. She asked if I work there, so I wonder if it was for employees of those hositpals or if employees get some kind of head start. Just an FYI for all those in Tucson wanting other options besides just PCC.
