OK, so the rules have changed, and CPD is no longer enough.
I'm wondering about how to achieve the "reflective discussion" part when there are no UK registered nurses where I work.
So, all expat Brits, please let me know how you plan to maintain your NMC registration. Is anyone agreeable to contacting me, with a view to maybe planning an email/Skype discussion that we both can document?
I'm in Chicago btw, so if there are any other UK nurses here, we can meet in Panera instead : )
Hi Janaelle,
Just to recap I take it you are no longer on the UKCC register and it looks like your registration lapsed in 2016.
In this case you will need to follow the instructions on the -declaring overseas practice from a country not on the majority English speaking country list.
You will need a cert of good standing from your nurses board, the name and address of your employer and proof of English proficiency
If you are unable to provide a supporting declaration to confirm health and character you will be asked to provide the reasons why and to find another individual to provide a supporting declaration.
No one on this site will be able to provide you with a supporting declaration if they have not known you for the last year and had contact with you in the last six months. The process of reflective interviews being discussed is for nurses who are maintaining their UK registration while overseas
I would urge you to check out the nmc.org.uk website and the information on re registration during Covid 19. It seems they have temporary registration for overseas practitioners who will not be required to complete the OSCE. This might be a way in which you can get back into practice in the UK although I am not sure if you will be able to meet all the requirements as it seems you need to be living n the UK and have started your application.
Good luck,
Tracy
Hello tracyam as I did most of my working hours in UK when I still was on the register (more than 750 hours in the last five years) I think that's why the system didn't asked me for the IELTS or OSCE, when I talked to the NMC agent as well. Yes I applied for the recall campain and they'll put me on the list as soon I'll send the documents back. I'll see what will goes on, if they will be OK to let me until July to come to work... actually this would be a great opportunity for me. When she said that to me about the readmission and not revalidation I thought "oh damn no one will be able to help me on the forum now as it's not a revalidation procedure". I'm waiting for the NMC reply, hope they will be adaptive regarding my case ?.
Hello everyone, I had my reply today from the NMC: "Unfortunately an NMC registered referee (Reference 1) who is currently effective on the same part of the register as you, must be provided in support of your application for readmission. This forms part of the readmission criteria." I couldn't apply for revalidation it's over, I'll have to find another way to return on the register ?. Thank you everyone for your help !
Best wishes
Janaelle,
So sorry to hear that all your efforts have gone unrewarded and unheeded. I was going to tell you three weeks ago that this would be the case. I didn’t want to be a negative downer for you.
I went through every aspect of the revalidation requirements WHILE STILL ON THE REGISTRY, and I was not permitted to revalidate due to living in the US. The NMC rejected my manager as a referee and would not provide anyone to serve as my Registered Referee in the UK. I felt it was a deliberate method of eliminating foreign-registration nurses from their registry.
I was truly heartbroken. I had worked so hard to get on the registry. :(

Yes I know what you mean Jennifer ?, I wanted to hope until the end. Yes it's really rude to be stuck in this way, to be rejected because we can't provide this information. I also think it's a way to exclude foreign nurse registration...I'm sad, feel sorry and tired of that, as I lose something that belongs to me, a part of myself but life continues... I guess I'll need to do another job if I can't be a nurse in the UK. I'll try to work as a healthcare assistant and ask my new colleagues next year to help me by being my referee. I guess It will be my last chance, because in September 2021 I'd have 5 years since my pin expired. Thank you for your reply it brings me a bit of comfort ?.

Janaelle, if your PIN expired 3 and a half years ago you are not trying to re-validate, you are trying to re-register are you not?
That is a whole different thing than trying to re-validate as you are looking for readmission to the register.

After 13 pages of this thread I may be missing something so my apologies if this is not the case but going by your last post it seems to me you are trying to do the wrong thing and possibly need to do a return to practice course.
Good luck.

Hi Grumpy RN, it's what I am doing currently, readmission application, seems there is no other way to return on the register. I'm gonna ask them if I do a return to practice course, do I'll have to provide NMC registred referee after completing the course. I'm afraid I'll have to anyway...
Hi everyone,
So happy to have found this forum. I am a registered nurse who is living in Ontario, Canada. By chance are there any U.K. nurses on the forum who are presently living in my province? Hoping to connect with someone I can have my reflective discussion with, as part of the re-validation process. While I have not yet worked in the U.K., it was such a huge undertaking to receive my NMC license, that I have chosen to keep it current.
I have reached out to a couple people on the forum, to see what support may be possible. I am required to submit my on-line registration by July 1st.
M email is: [email protected]
Many thanks,
Denise

Good morning everyone, hope you are fine? Yes that's right they ask me to join the register and pay the membership fee 16£/months.
I had a talk again with NMC, with an overseas requires member for that time, about the CPD courses, the woman said that I just have to keep proof of attendance trainings because they may ask me to provide them. What I'll do. And she said as I'm applying for standard readmission I don't need to do the reflective hours which is only for revalidation way? Is it right?? Then I explain to her my issue about providing NMC referee et signatory referee and she gives me an adress to email and ask about what I should to in this case but I'm quite sure they'll say me the same thing again "if you can't provide these informations you couldn't return of the register". What I should do?
Thank you
