Hi People
I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.
I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.
I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!
I received my OSCE results after two days and am happy to announce that I now have my PIN!! Best of luck to the rest of you.
Wow congratulations. I am guessing that you have based your username-timeisbrain from the Stroke online Resource LOL. (Currently reviewing that part)
I am scheduled on February 10 for OSCE. Best of Luck and Godbless to all takers out there.

Hi timeisbrain!! How was the OSCE? Would you mind sharing some tips for the exam? Sitting it end of February!

Hi westmack! Scheduled to take it end of February myself! How is the study going? I am freaking with the assessment and admission station. Do you really do everything under 15 minutes?
There is also an OSCE study book available online with Barnes and Noble. I bought it and it looks like a great study guide on what they will be looking for and great advise on how to pass successfully.
Is it OSCE for international nurses? Or UK nursing students?
I passed the OSCE.......... It was so nerve wracking waiting the results!!!!
CONGRATS!! How was the exam? Did you go thru 6 stations under 15 minutes?
Long time lurker here. Sitting the OSCE on December 15th. If anyone is interested in meeting up and studying, let me know! I'll be in London.
Hi! How did you go with ur OSCE? Would you mind sharing a little bit about the day itself?
Hi I am taking the test on the 15th. Been studying like crazy but would love to talk some of it out. I am a US emergency nurse looking to work in NHS. I don't live near London but we could still talk on the phone and share tips. It is so close. I am ready for this process to be complete lolhere is my email I can't use PM on this site yet. [email protected]
Is it okay to email you? Studying also for the OSCE! I'm not near London either, but would love to have someone to chat with about OSCE! My trust doesn't seem to have a clue how to prep us for it.
Grace,Do you have a practice development team in your hospital?
I'm sure they would be very happy to provide you with some scenarios in an OSCE style and offer you feedback on your performance so that you can make any improvements and increase your confidence. They may even support you with cost...or set up a salary sacrifice arrangement so that you pay over the course of a year for example.
what is the NMC's view on people not having 450 practice hours as a Registered Nurse in the previous three years? Did they ask you about this?
Not quite sure about this.. You can ask NMC or just proceed with your application and hope for the best. With the old system, you'll be given longer time but now, they didn't say anything. I haven't practiced nursing since i got here in uk (5 yrs) but i've got my pin now.
@Gen88: I have heard that if you are registered with an agency, they or the employer will pay the OSCE fee. I also am curious if you ever heard back from the NMC regarding your initial failure of the CBT, and if so, what they said. I don't have enough messages to PM you, but please feel free to PM me!
Hi guys,
I will be submitting all my documents to NMC anytime next week. I am just a little confused as to when I need to book the tb test with IOM. The agency said that the employer cannot request for CoS if I dnt have the certificate for the tb test. í ½í¹ Done with the medical exam last month though I think I need to do it again since it is only valid for 3 months.. Would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks! í ½í¸Š
Hi guys!I'm a newbie in this thread. Haha. I'm so elated right now. Just received my decision letter and it only took them (NMC) 18 days to assess my documents. Proly one of the best Christmas presents ever!
I was so nervous back then because they asked me to re-submit 2 documents and O was worried that I'll be back at the bottom of the queue but I didn't see that one coming. So, to those who are still waiting for their DL to arrive, just don't lose hope and be patient. :))
Hi,
Do we get the CoS first or the DL? 🙊
