UCSF MEPN 2016

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the UCSF MEPN program (among a few others) this summer/fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

A friend of mine is a current student in the MEPN program and on some student councils. He received an email last night saying the emails would be sent out today. Here's hoping. Good luck everyone!

I work at UCSF.. and I am sitting here filtering through emails just in case because everything has UCSF in the email, ha. Really hoping it comes soon!!

I don't think it's coming today unfortunately... It's already 5:30 there :/ so sick of obsessively checking my email!

I'm not sure whether I should be hoping for an email today, or patiently waiting for the postal service on Monday (or later!).

I feel like the little finding nemo snap I have as my picture is a perfect visualization of how I felt yesterday when 5:30 PST came and went without a notification. And when admissions emailed and said it would be snail mail. And this morning. And probably all weekend.

The calm collected feeling I had leading up to this week is quickly evaporating as the confusion about when/how we will be notified increases.

What email did you get from admissions? Was it sent to all applicants? I didn't receive anything. Thanks!

Oh! Sorry for confusion- I was referring to the email exchange I had yesterday with the admissions rep. who helped me when one of my references was missing. I just asked him if he could share when we might expect to hear and he said that letters had been put in the mail on Wednesday.

Shoot! Now I'm even more anxious than before--I'm currently at the airport, leaving the country, and won't be able to check my mail until I come back on the 24th...[emoji12] I hope they will also send emails!

I emailed admissions this morning and got a reply that "Letters went out in the mail on Wednesday". Looks like we've all been wasting time checking our email!!

According to past feeds, they only sent out interview invitations, and not initial rejections (at first). That makes the waiting even worse!!

Well when I called admissions yesterday they said theyll let us know through emails. Maybe someone else can call admissions for a 2nd opinion. Lol why is there such confusion :X

This lack of clarity and transparency is not helpful, and it doesn't seem necessary. As a point of comparison, another school communicated with me no less than five times between application submission and my acceptance. They were clear about when and how we would hear, and they actually beat their own timeline by a week. At every step of the way, they were respectful and kind, which was not the case with my one email exchange with UCSF admissions about a month ago.

This is so frustrating! There's probably a slim chance that they'll let us know by email and by letter. It sounds/looks like it's snail mail, despite multiple people saying they were told it would come by email. It would be really nice if they were more clear on how this process works. I guess the last 24 hours of being anxious and terrified to check my email have been wasted :/
