UCSF MEPN 2016

Published

Hello!

I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the UCSF MEPN program (among a few others) this summer/fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.

Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?

Hi Everyone,

Former lurker here! I'm coming out of the shadows today after stalking this thread since July :)

I thought I'd share some info I found out-- I called UCSF yesterday and learned that invitations to interview and denies will be sent on Thursday or Friday. The person who I spoke with also told me that they are accepting a higher number of applicants than previous years for a total of 72.

Just a couple more days to go. I'm so anxious.

I wonder which specialties they will be accepting more students for...a couple more per specialty or is there one or two that has expanded?

I'm not sure, they didn't specify. But, I'd guess each specialty got a proportional increase in seats.

kdiem was actually nice enough to share some of the numbers earlier (on page 9 of this thread):

Hello all! I'm a second year midwifery student. Was informed there are 63 CNM applicants for 10 positions and 98 FNP applicants for 18 positions. This may change of course, but those are some ballpark numbers! Good luck to everyone :)

^ if everybody's numbers line up that would mean there are 44 spaces left for the other specialties combined

The FNP specialty page on the website lists some information about acceptance rates/ number of spaces from previous years, and in 2014 there were 18 MEPN FNPs (so no change to this year based on kdiem's info).

There's also some interesting information available on this page: https://nursing.ucsf.edu/student-statistics

I am so impressed with how helpful and active current students have been on this thread! Thank you all for your help and support!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, you'll find out tomorrow, it's only a day away...

Just a big high-five of encouragement to all the applicants like me, no matter how things turn out. If it's a yes, celebrate! And if it's a no, don't let it deter you on your path to becoming the fanastic advanced-practice nurse that you know you can be. Good luck to everyone!

high five back to you!

do we really think it's today?! eek!

Sitting here at work checking my email every 5 minutes. Do you think they know how anxious we are?? Good luck everyone!

We didn't get an email until 4:45pm last year. Hopefully they won't make you all wait that long.

and that's 4:45pm Pacific time too, right? East Cost on edge all day over here!

Update:

I just emailed admissions and they said letters had been put in the mail yesterday. I guess we are getting snail mail after all!

Anyone know if we can see the update on our application status? I've been trying to open it, but it seems like the entire website is down!
