    Vanderbilt MSN 2016

I just called to clarify and the woman I spoke with said about 1.5 single spaced. I just finished a draft and worked hard to edit it down to 1.5 double spaced, so glad to know I have more room now!

Is that double-spaced? I am assuming but wanted to clarify...

    Vanderbilt MSN 2016

I am applying for the prespecialty MSN in midwifery (I have a non-nursing bachelors). I emailed someone in admissions to find out how long the "brief" statement of purpose should be, and they told me 250 words. Has anyone else heard this? I know the other questions have a limit of 100-250 words, but that seems so short for the personal statement!

I just put Sept 1 since there was no option for "present." I figure it will be clear enough?

Mine started out much longer than 2 pages, but I've shortened it down to about 2 pages because I want to make it as concise as possible. Maybe try to go through it and really ask yourself which parts are the most important, and what parts you could save for the "additional info" section.

I am also feeling a little unsure where to put what information - I feel like I am being a little redundant in my additional info section since a lot of it is mentioned in my resume and experience sections, but I also don't want to leave it blank. Also, I am not necessarily writing that section as essays, but rather as a list of activities with about a paragraph explaining each one. When I emailed Steven Johnson awhile back he said that clarity is more important than length. Also, what is everyone putting for "career goals/objectives" in the additional info section? I am not quite sure what to put for that and how specific I need to be. Although I have a general sense what I want to do with my career, I feel like it is too early for me (or most people, for that matter) to know EXACTLY where I want to end up.

I also panicked a bit when I was told at the info session that stats has to be with in 5 years...but it says on the website that the 3-year limit is for the next application round, and I also confirmed with several people in admissions that there is no time limit for this application cycle. Phew!
