Vanderbilt MSN 2016
I was also accepted to UPenn, Vandy and a couple other schools for PMHNP. I am pre-specialty (non BSN), and I am choosing Vanderbilt for a number of reasons: First and foremost---it's 2 years and I'm DONE. This is huge for me, because I'm ready to get out there and start working. I'm 30, and I've taken the past couple years to do a post-bacc, and I'm just ready to get back into the field again, earn money and be a real human being. So, Vanderbilt's length is a tremendous plus for me. Second, it's a "brand name" school---has an amazing reputation, is the #11 nursing school in the country, and I've heard nothing but positive things from students (both in real life and on this forum). Please correct me if I'm wrong about the latter---I'd actually love to know some negatives about the school, since I can't seem to find many. Third, it's in Nashville, which has a lower cost of living than Philly, Boston, NYC and some of the other schools to which I've been accepted. This is a major plus---I'm trying to live the good life over here, so a city where my money goes further, I'll take it. Lastly, I found Penn to be really disorganized and just didn't get a great feel for it. However, that's a SMALL reasoning, because in reality, it's the school's reputation and quality of education that counts, not how competent its admissions staff is. What about everyone else? Can you give me any reasons why Vandy wouldn't be the best choice??

Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Accepted Students Fall 2016
I will also be attending in the fall '16---PMHNP specialty here

Vanderbilt MSN 2016
I was under the impression that, for those with a BA in a non-nursing field, we are NOT eligible to partake in the distance-learning format. I thought we took classes on campus for the full 2 years. Am I wrong in thinking this?

For those pre-specialty (non-RN) applicants who've been admitted, does your acceptance letter mention anything about the pre-specialty year, or does it just state: "Your 2016 Fall application to the MSN degree in the [specialty] of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) has been approved for Full Time study." Just curious, as I'm paranoid and want to make sure they didn't think I applied to the MSN only because I already have a BSN (which I don't). Thanks!

I was accepted for pre-specialty PMHNP, but there was no mention of a financial aid award in my letter (despite the line saying "if you indicated you'd like to be considered for aid, that award will be enclosed). I'm assuming that means I received no award, but does anyone else have a similar letter of admission? Thanks!

Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 Program
Out of curiosity, does anyone know why Emory seems to have every NP specialty except for Psych (PMHNP)? I can't make it to the admitted students weekend on the 6th, but wanted to ask someone in admissions this. If anyone has any intel, that would be amazing. THANKS!

Vanderbilt MSN 2016
So from what I understand, everyone who applies to the specialties that conduct interviews gets an interview? Is that correct? It seems that everyone interviews, so that getting an interview is not any indication as to whether or not one has a greater likelihood of being accepted, as is common with other schools. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

Vanderbilt MSN 2016
Thanks---I'm not sure how impressive my application is, but thanks for the insight! :) I find it odd that they release decisions/interviews piecemeal and not all a once, but who am I to say........

Vanderbilt MSN 2016
Has everyone that applied for PMHNP received communication back regarding an interview? I also applied in the first batch (received that e-mail saying so), but have heard nothing yet....not even a rejection letter. Is that odd?? Good luck everyone interviewing this week!!

Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 Program
Hi Lyndsmar, I was accepted to the ABSN+MSN program, and my OPUS also says "BSN summer 2016" in the little box. I think this may be what it says for everyone? Also, there has been no update on my OPUS whatsoever, and I remember reading somewhere on here that OPUS was only used for financial aid and billing purposes, and that it would not be updated to reflect your standing. But don't quote me on that, because it's just something I remember reading. Don't know about the cover letter---I didn't submit one.

UCSF MEPN 2016
Thanks for the update! I wonder if only the rejected applicants were sent a paper correspondence, and those chosen to interview received an email? That would make sense, and that is what USM and some of the other schools I applied to did...... Very few schools use means other than email to communicate, especially when flights etc must be scheduled for those bringing asked to interview.....

UCSF MEPN 2016
What email did you get from admissions? Was it sent to all applicants? I didn't receive anything. Thanks!

Vanderbilt MSN 2016
Hi Jena.1001----when did you hear back from Vanderbilt regarding the PMHNP interview? Are you direct-entry/pre-specialty? and congrats!!
