Hello!
I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the UCSF MEPN program (among a few others) this summer/fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.
Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?
thanks for the kind words! FutureNP2019 i applied for the Family Cohort. Good luck to the rest of you as well. I've seen a lot of the downsides of UCSF from working in oncology here for two years so to be honest its not horribly disappointing - just surprised.
I've also been rejected. I can't explain how disappointed and sad I am. I also don't know where I went wrong. I graduated from an Ivy league school with a 3.8 gpa. I completed my pre-reqs with a 4.0. I have nonprofit experience working with underserved communties. I have EMT experience. I currently work in a clinic and provide direct patient care. I work closely with NPs. I had 5 amazing letters of reccommendation and two were written by NPs that I work with. I scored above average in the writing and verbal portions of the GRE, and below average on the math... I applied to the FNP track.
@blueandgold1919 & @PPMM I'm so sorry to hear that.
I am beyond terrified now.
UC Davis is about the start a new MEPN program.

Last I spoke with someone there they said they were hoping to have the first cohort start in 2016.
My snail mail doesn't arrive until 6pm, so I have no news. But I have been surprised by the credentials of those who have been rejected. You all sound like fantastic candidates! Don't let this deter you from your path. UCSF is competitive, as we all know, and FNP is even more competitive. It sounds like this year's applicant pool is very strong. I know it's almost impossible to not take rejection personally, but don't give up if this is your calling. Find another way. Your future patients will be glad you did!
Got a rejection letter for midwifery I had a pretty good feeling I would due to my grades but I'm shocked to see others with great stats rejected as well. I have a ton of clinical experience and health education experience. I had really great letters of rec and I think I wrote a great statement. So who knows man. Hopefully this isn't the first of many rejections. Will have to kill it during my Upenn interview!

It's a rejection for me as well. I feel your pain, @blueandgold1919. I had similar stats to yours so I'm also feeling pretty let down at the moment. I do feel relieved that the waiting game is over--I'm much calmer than I was a few moments ago!
good luck with your upcoming interview with Penn and do NOT let this deter you from your path. To everyone else, GOOD LUCK!!! I'll be rooting for you! [emoji4]
