TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

May i ask what are preferences which people are talking about?

The preferences refers to having an A on the first attempt in A&P I and II, microbiology, and statistics (lecture and lab must both be passed on first attempt with an A for it to count).

I only have 2/4 prefs, but I'm gonna just apply anyway. I've already taken the TEAS, so I'm not just gonna not apply now.

Hey Nursekatlyn,

I am in the same boat, at least you have two preferences. I do not know what to do...My husband told me to apply anyways, but I do not want to spent more money.

I made an 88 on the TEAS! Yay! I was so worried because I ran out of time on the math part!

I just recalculated my GPA, using their worksheet, and it's actually a 3.8! Yay!

And see you were all worried about nothing :)

Well that is if they count my highest for my philosophy and fine arts electives. Does anyone know the policy on that?

I'm pretty sure they take your highest grade!

They take your most recent grade. I asked this question to the admissions coordinator last semester.

That's so unfair! Even if it was a completely different class and not a retake? That will bring my GPA down below a 3.7. What a stupid policy.

Was anyone else surprised at how basic the nursing school application was? It seriously took me two seconds to complete and I didn't get to add job or volunteer experience or anything. I hope I filled it out correctly..

Anyway, I have applied to the Houston campus. I emailed a counselor before applying to make sure I wasn't wasting my time and she said that I was competitive, so we'll see. I got accepted to UTMB for fall 2013, but I decided to pass on that offer because I want to be in Houston, not Galveston.

My stats:

Overall GPA: 3.55

Science GPA: 3.50

TEAS: 83.3%

2/4 preferences

I'm also retaking A&P II at the moment just in case I don't get in. I already applied to UTHSC for spring 2013 and didn't get in because my science GPA was only a 3.0 back then, and if I apply again with an A instead of a B for A&P II, I will have a 3.7 and will have a much higher chance of getting in. I hope.

QUESTION: do you think they'd think it's weird that I have a DP (drop pass- I took it at Baylor) for A&P II and a B, and now I'm taking it again to get an A? ...Oh well.

Sorry for rambling! :x

I feel like I should retake A&P as well. I just hate that class so much. I realllly don't wanna take it again.
