TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

eeeek! I haven't started 6 months in advance.
Yeah the Hep B might be a problem if you gave to start the series over again because they have to be done by the start of the program but maybe you can contact the nursing department; I'm sure you would be ok since you would have the 1st and 2nd Hep B shots done, it would just be the 3rd you wouldnt be able to get in before ( if your applying for Spring 2013). Call them ASAP though and check.
Have any of y'all started doing the immunizations yet? I don't have my immunization records (except for tetorifice, which I updated 2 years ago thanks to a rusty nail). Are y'all doing them at the TWU with the student discount or else where? I think I need to start on these ASAP. I'm not sure if I can get records from my high school-it's been a while......let's just say Nirvana was cool back then. So do I do the titers (expensive right?) or just get all of them again (ugh)? Advice?

You can contact the TWU to see if they accept the titer test.

Any one know how long is the TWU TEAS score good for ?

When I went to the info session in Dallas, she told us your score is good for as long as they are using TEAS V as an entrance test, so basically..there is no expiration date on it. You just can take it once during each application period.

I heard not to worry about them until after you have submitted your application. Shots, as well as your CPR certification. But don't get them done at TWU's health center, it's so expensive! If you have health insurance, your doctor's office will probably be the cheapest place to get them done along with what Ambrekai said about the county health centers. I think I got my tetorifice done there really cheap some years back...*shudders* I hate that shot!

@ Ambrekai yes I've lived in Texas my whole life. I will check with Texas Health services. Thanks guys.

I took my TEAS today! Glad to have it over with :) I won't know how I did though until Wednesday...

Just found this website and read through some of the pages. I think I am even more nervous now!! I put a lot on the line to go back to school for nursing so I am really hoping this all works out. Question- can you apply to both Dallas and Houston and do you have to submit two different applications? I also realized how behind I am in studying/taking the TEAS. Y'all sure are on top of things! I have taken four classes this summer plus a job so I have had zero time to work on anything else. I am also in patho this upcoming fall...excited to know others here are taking it too :)

Hello Shellystev! Unfortunately, you have to choose either Houston or Dallas. On the nursing application there is a radio button that will only let you pick one. Dallas processes all the applications. Definitely get the study guide and practice tests from ATI to prepare for the TEAS. I just got mine 2 weeks before I schedule to take the test and have been studying it religiously but most of it is review from more basic information that you learned in 7-12 grades (and if your like me, that was quite a while back...so, I needed to review!). Good Luck!

Aww thanks, I hope so!

I was actually prepared to receive my score right away, because some places actually DO give it to you right away! But unfortunately my testing center didn't :( It sucks.

GOOD LUCK to you on Wednesday!! It's a huge relief once you're done :D

Darn. They should let you apply to both...I am not going to be picky which campus I go to. Good luck on your test!
