  1. Good news everyone to everyone still waiting!!!! Several of us just on our Fall 2013 FB page have been offered to start the semester early in the Summer on May 20th since we are done with our prerequisites. This means that there are seats opening up for the Fall semester! In addition....I wanted to remind everyone new to the thread of my story... I first applied to UTHSC for the Fall 2012, although I had good stats to get in, I was still in the process of taking 17 hrs. I was VERY disappointed when I received a denial letter and I ended up moving from Houston to Fort Worth for a whole change of scenery and to shoot for TWU/Dallas, although UTHSC was really where I wanted to be, I was bitter. Well, a month before the Fall semester was to start in July, I got a call from UTHSC nursing admissions asking if I was still interested in attending for the fall!! My heart sunk because at this time, I was already enrolled in Patho. at TWU in Denton and it was too late to move back to Houston with that short of notice. I applied for TWU Spring 2013 and was denied to nursing school for the second time! I decided to give UTHSC another shot (since it was where I always wanted to be) and moved BACK to Houston after completing Patho at TWU, and applying to both UTHSC for Fall 2013 and TWU Houston. The third time around, I got accepted into both schools and chose UTHSC... and as I mentioned above, they since then have offered me to start 4 months early! The message is, DON'T GIVE UP if this is your dream!! I'm so happy everything worked out the way it did, because now I don't have to take Patho my first hectic semester of nursing school and this will be such a relief! If I were you, I would still work on getting your immunizations up to date and CPR done so if any doors open up, you'll be ready!! Good Luck once again to you all!
  2. When I applied the 1st time, I was taking my last 17 hrs the semester before and I didn't get in but I got a call right before the semester starting asking if I was still interested because my name came up on the waiting list. By this time, I had moved and was not able to apply again until this Fall 2013 application period, in the meantime, I took the opportunity to take Patho. since I had taken everything else. I got accepted this time too! Just don't give up hope, your stats are awesome!
  3. They should be sending out more e-mails once they see how many people accepted/decline the 1st batch. You can call the nursing administration office and ask where you are on the waiting list though. Good luck!
  4. Hey guys! I just checked my e-mail and I was accepted in the Houston campus but I'm accepting UTHSC instead, so there will be another seat available! I've seen some people ask why they are choosing one over the other...my reason is because I like that UTHSC goes through the summer so it's only 16 months long and they just announced a couple of months ago that they will be the 1st school in Texas to offer a BSN directly to DNP in Anesthesia and that's my ultimate goal! They are both great schools though and I am feeling so blessed to have been accepted to both! Congrats to all the others that have been accepted and for those who have not or are still waiting...DON'T give up, this was my 3rd time applying and I got accepted to both this time!
  5. I've got it up!! It's Uthsc-son class of December 2014. I would love to have your help as an admin...and anyone else too who wants to be!! Let me know if any of you have any suggestions!
  6. I will start a FB page, but I wanted to make sure our grad date would be December 2014 right? I was going to name it UTHSC-SON class of December 2014 (that's what the past groups have done)
  7. Here are my stats: Prereq GPA: 3.7 Science GPA: 4.0 HESI: 94 CT: 890 And I have also taken Patho and Pharm, which I heard looks good to them because so many have a hard time with these courses in their 1st semester of nursing school. Your stats are really good! Stay positive :)
  8. I just got my acceptance e-mail from UT-health in Houston!!! Since that was my first choice, I'm going with them. Good luck to you guys!! :)
  9. OMG!!! I almost ran off the road when I got that e-mail!!! I'm accepted!!!!
  10. Yes, our Patho (hers already did) will transfer as long as it gets approved after accepted. I've already talked to them and they told me to send a copy of the class syllabus once I get accepted (being optimistic :)). I heard that it and Pharm had to be an upper level class from a four year university. I took Patho at TWU so that's no problem but I took Pharm at Lone Star College. When I talked to the lady I will have to send my syllabus to, she told me to send both of them including my one from Pharm and she will look at it! I'm crossing my fingers because that will make the first semester of nursing school SO SO much easier! My friend is taking Pharm now as a J1 and she says it is tough but she's doing well. So, I CAN NOT stress enough...if you have the opportunity to take Patho before the school, even if you have to spend your summer doing it, DO IT! I can not imagine having to take it with Pharm AND clinicals! I made an A in Patho but it was the only class I had left to take and I spent everyday studying!
  11. Yes, at UT-Health Houston. She loves it! She said the work-load is fierce, but that's to be expected, and all the professors are awesome and willing to help! She also got accepted to UTMB but her and I both took Patho together at TWU-Denton but both got denied to TWU-Dallas. Unfortunately for me, I put all my eggs in one basket, so I had to sit out this semester. TWU-Dallas is much more competitive than Houston and if I would have selected Houston then I would have probably got accepted since some of the people on the thread who picked the Houston campus had much lower GPAs than mine. But, I was not discouraged...UT-Houston was my first choice from the beginning of my journey back to school and I feel like I'm in a good position this time around. All that is meant to be, will be!
  12. I applied to TWU-Houston as well. I think we will hear back from them before UT-Health, but UT-Health is my first choice. My friend applied to the same schools you did last semester and she heard back from UTMB first, then TWU, and finally UT-Health. She's a J1 now and LOVES it!
  13. I got an e-mail back from SON admissions saying that my transcript evaluation will be completed and mailed to me. I don't know if they we're already sending one or if it was because I requested it; but, it will be reassuring to see it for myself and know that all my credits did transfer!
  14. Hey guys! I sent an e-mail to the main admissions office to ask about the transcript evaluations and she told me to send a request to the SON and that they only send out evaluations if their registrars office request one. I sent an e-mail to them requesting one but I'm waiting to hear back. I'm still not sure why the registrar would request the evaluations on just some applicants and not all. Out of speculation only, I would think maybe to clarify some transferred credit because it seems by reading this thread that a lot of the transcript evaluations had mistakes?? Only speculations though, who really knows??
  15. April!!! That's going to seem like forever!
