UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Good news everyone to everyone still waiting!!!! Several of us just on our Fall 2013 FB page have been offered to start the semester early in the Summer on May 20th since we are done with our prerequisites. This means that there are seats opening up for the Fall semester! In addition....I wanted to remind everyone new to the thread of my story... I first applied to UTHSC for the Fall 2012, although I had good stats to get in, I was still in the process of taking 17 hrs. I was VERY disappointed when I received a denial letter and I ended up moving from Houston to Fort Worth for a whole change of scenery and to shoot for TWU/Dallas, although UTHSC was really where I wanted to be, I was bitter. Well, a month before the Fall semester was to start in July, I got a call from UTHSC nursing admissions asking if I was still interested in attending for the fall!! My heart sunk because at this time, I was already enrolled in Patho. at TWU in Denton and it was too late to move back to Houston with that short of notice. I applied for TWU Spring 2013 and was denied to nursing school for the second time! I decided to give UTHSC another shot (since it was where I always wanted to be) and moved BACK to Houston after completing Patho at TWU, and applying to both UTHSC for Fall 2013 and TWU Houston. The third time around, I got accepted into both schools and chose UTHSC... and as I mentioned above, they since then have offered me to start 4 months early! The message is, DON'T GIVE UP if this is your dream!! I'm so happy everything worked out the way it did, because now I don't have to take Patho my first hectic semester of nursing school and this will be such a relief! If I were you, I would still work on getting your immunizations up to date and CPR done so if any doors open up, you'll be ready!! Good Luck once again to you all!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
When I applied the 1st time, I was taking my last 17 hrs the semester before and I didn't get in but I got a call right before the semester starting asking if I was still interested because my name came up on the waiting list. By this time, I had moved and was not able to apply again until this Fall 2013 application period, in the meantime, I took the opportunity to take Patho. since I had taken everything else. I got accepted this time too! Just don't give up hope, your stats are awesome!

TWU Fall 2013 Applicants
They should be sending out more e-mails once they see how many people accepted/decline the 1st batch. You can call the nursing administration office and ask where you are on the waiting list though. Good luck!

TWU Fall 2013 Applicants
Hey guys! I just checked my e-mail and I was accepted in the Houston campus but I'm accepting UTHSC instead, so there will be another seat available! I've seen some people ask why they are choosing one over the other...my reason is because I like that UTHSC goes through the summer so it's only 16 months long and they just announced a couple of months ago that they will be the 1st school in Texas to offer a BSN directly to DNP in Anesthesia and that's my ultimate goal! They are both great schools though and I am feeling so blessed to have been accepted to both! Congrats to all the others that have been accepted and for those who have not or are still waiting...DON'T give up, this was my 3rd time applying and I got accepted to both this time!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I will start a FB page, but I wanted to make sure our grad date would be December 2014 right? I was going to name it UTHSC-SON class of December 2014 (that's what the past groups have done)

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Here are my stats: Prereq GPA: 3.7 Science GPA: 4.0 HESI: 94 CT: 890 And I have also taken Patho and Pharm, which I heard looks good to them because so many have a hard time with these courses in their 1st semester of nursing school. Your stats are really good! Stay positive :)

TWU Fall 2013 Applicants
I just got my acceptance e-mail from UT-health in Houston!!! Since that was my first choice, I'm going with them. Good luck to you guys!! :)

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Yes, our Patho (hers already did) will transfer as long as it gets approved after accepted. I've already talked to them and they told me to send a copy of the class syllabus once I get accepted (being optimistic :)). I heard that it and Pharm had to be an upper level class from a four year university. I took Patho at TWU so that's no problem but I took Pharm at Lone Star College. When I talked to the lady I will have to send my syllabus to, she told me to send both of them including my one from Pharm and she will look at it! I'm crossing my fingers because that will make the first semester of nursing school SO SO much easier! My friend is taking Pharm now as a J1 and she says it is tough but she's doing well. So, I CAN NOT stress enough...if you have the opportunity to take Patho before the school, even if you have to spend your summer doing it, DO IT! I can not imagine having to take it with Pharm AND clinicals! I made an A in Patho but it was the only class I had left to take and I spent everyday studying!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Yes, at UT-Health Houston. She loves it! She said the work-load is fierce, but that's to be expected, and all the professors are awesome and willing to help! She also got accepted to UTMB but her and I both took Patho together at TWU-Denton but both got denied to TWU-Dallas. Unfortunately for me, I put all my eggs in one basket, so I had to sit out this semester. TWU-Dallas is much more competitive than Houston and if I would have selected Houston then I would have probably got accepted since some of the people on the thread who picked the Houston campus had much lower GPAs than mine. But, I was not discouraged...UT-Houston was my first choice from the beginning of my journey back to school and I feel like I'm in a good position this time around. All that is meant to be, will be!

I applied to TWU-Houston as well. I think we will hear back from them before UT-Health, but UT-Health is my first choice. My friend applied to the same schools you did last semester and she heard back from UTMB first, then TWU, and finally UT-Health. She's a J1 now and LOVES it!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I got an e-mail back from SON admissions saying that my transcript evaluation will be completed and mailed to me. I don't know if they we're already sending one or if it was because I requested it; but, it will be reassuring to see it for myself and know that all my credits did transfer!
-
UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Hey guys! I sent an e-mail to the main admissions office to ask about the transcript evaluations and she told me to send a request to the SON and that they only send out evaluations if their registrars office request one. I sent an e-mail to them requesting one but I'm waiting to hear back. I'm still not sure why the registrar would request the evaluations on just some applicants and not all. Out of speculation only, I would think maybe to clarify some transferred credit because it seems by reading this thread that a lot of the transcript evaluations had mistakes?? Only speculations though, who really knows??

April!!! That's going to seem like forever!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Last year they started changing applicant's statuses around the 3rd week of March...but they were updating the UTLink to MyUTH at that time, hopefully it's not that late this time!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I applied in Fall 2012 and never received one and a lot of others on that feed, some who did get in and some that didn't, never received one either. They also didn't start changing acceptance statuses until towards the end of March. I wouldn't worry about it too much though. I still have that they need my HESI scores on my to-do list from last year when I applied, LoL! But I did confirm with them before the deadline that they have received all my documents and I could still use my HESI scores from last year and they DID have them. I think that there is just so many applications for them to process and someone probably has to manually go in and take off the items from someone's to-do list, so a lot of them never get changed even though they do have your documents. The reason I say this is because they had that my TWU transcript was needed on my to-do list also and I sent an e-mail about it and luckily a guy emailed me right back and reassured me that they had it and he took it off my to-do list. I know it's hard not to stress about it but having been through this process before, you can't read into anything too much or it will drive you crazy! :)

Nothing yet for me either :/

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I had it still on my to-do list after making sure that they had my transcripts, but I emailed the registrar's office right before the deadline to double check that I was o.k. since it was still on there. I received an email immediately saying that it was removed from my to-do list. I don't think it is a big deal as long as you have made sure that they did receive your transcript.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Ok, thanks! At least taking it already will help me and it will really help with not having to take it with Patho. I will plan to sit in on some lectures though to get a re-fresher. I have a friend that started this spring and says the professors that teach it are AWESOME! I appreciate the feedback!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
I took it this past Fall at TWU-Denton and made an A, so I hope it transfers. I also took Pharm at Lone Star College-Montgomery since I initially planned on applying for their AAS nursing program. I made an A in it too. Do you have any idea if this would transfer?? I haven't received any transcript evaluations yet but it sure would be a sweet 1st semester of nursing school if I didn't have to take either one of these courses!! I enjoyed the classes but they require A LOT of study time. I would advise anyone who could take either one of these courses before to do it! Thanks for any feedback!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Same here. I emailed them and they said they do have it, although its still on my to-do list.

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Yeah, your status will still be incomplete just because they will need the final transcript at the end of the semester. I applied last Fall but was still taking my last 17 hrs and I got a denial letter. I ended up getting a call from UT-SON a couple of weeks before the start of the nursing program asking me if I was still interested in attending!! Would've been great news if I hadn't just moved to Ft Worth!! Anyways- I'm applying again this semester and have everything done but they still have my HESI scores on my To-do list even though I'm using the ones they already have since I did really good on it. I called just to make sure but they said yes, they have them and I can use them. I know we are all on pins and needles since the deadline is approaching! Good luck!!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Yeah, you have to keep checking & double checking to make sure they have your things! I sent my transcript from TWU to them right after I got my grades but called today & they didn't have it. Found out they don't take electronic transcripts from TWU and had to request one by mail again! I'm so glad I double checked instead of assuming they would get it!

UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013
Hey, I had this same issue but I just talked to someone in the registrar's office and she said since I'm currently enrolled in classes for the spring, I will have that as an incomplete transcript on my to-do list until they get a final transcript after my grades have posted at the end of the semester. But, it will not affect your acceptance just as long as you meet the requirements and get that final transcript to them before the start of the program. When you get accepted it's like an acceptance contingent on you getting everything complete, i.e. final transcripts, cpr, immunizations, background check. Hope this helps!
