TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Published

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

Lets Get It Started!!!

Hi everyone,

I got my acceptance letter to the Houston location today. I am so thrilled. I started a group on Facebook so that we could all get to know each other. Search for this group:TWU Nursing Program - Spring 2011. Hope to see you on facebook. Congrats to all!

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

I can't find the group. Can you post the link to the group please? Thanks!

The only difference I see between the original and corrected emails is the second paragraph now includes: "Once you have made your campus choice you cannot transfer to the other campus."

So for those of you accepted to both -- which one are you going to choose?

OMG I got ACCEPTED!!!! I didn't even check my TWU email today until I saw everyone's posting on this forum!

I am literally shaking!!! :) I've been accepted to both Dallas & Houston Campus but I'm definitely going to choose the Houston campus!!!

Good luck everyone!!!! :)

Congrats everyone!

I will be accepting the offer at Dallas since this is where I live!

My friend who applied with me was also accepted at Dallas.

@Bharvey... I wish I did not drop that Patho class lol I'm hoping they offer it in the winter, that way I can get it out of the way before the semester starts. I'm also glad I won't have a W on my transcript!

Again, congrats to all!

What a relief to everyone accepted!! Congrats!! I was also accepted to the Houston program and am thrilled to be starting this venture. I do have some questions though. Does anyone know how TWU Houston traditional program structured? Do we have the summers off? And if so, do we have the option of taking classes to get ahead? What are the advantages/disadvantages between TWU and UTHSC? Of course, I haven't been accepted to UT, but if by the chance they do offer an acceptance, what are the differences? Congrats again

I also would like to know what the student to clinical preceptor (sp) or the faculty that will be at clinicals ratio is? As in when we go to clinicals how many students to a faculty member will be there with us?

I am sooooo excited for all that applied and have received their acceptance letters!!!

For those that have not received anything yet...here is a little advice.

*check your email every single day

*there is usually another surge of acceptance letters that go out after the deadline for the other schools have passed (some people choose to go elsewhere and this adds another open spot for the lucky few)

*even when you think it is too late to get an acceptance letter, still look for one...daily

*don't stress out just yet..it is not too late

To those that have gotten letters...YAY!!!!

  • Don't worry about books, schedules, or supplies just yet. Take this time to relax. If I would have listened to those before me I would have saved myself a ton of needless stress.
  • You might want to take a mini-vacation and spend time with your friends...you will have little time for that type of stuff when you begin.
  • Your entire schedule is PRE-DETERMINED so chill out!!!
  • Get to know each other and exchange numbers...you will be best friends in a few months!

If you are struggling between Houston and Dallas, I say weigh you options carefully. I am at Houston and wouldn't change it for the world. The Medical Center is one of the best in the nation and is the main reason I applied to Houston:D.

Congrats to all of you...getting accepted is the beginning of your new life!!!

P.S. If you have questions that you think I can answer...just email me ;)

I also would like to know what the student to clinical preceptor (sp) or the faculty that will be at clinicals ratio is? As in when we go to clinicals how many students to a faculty member will be there with us?

At Houston there are no more than 10 students to each clinical instructor...it is that way everywhere due to nursing school regulations. For example, if there are 8 instructors, there can be no more than 80 students accepted.

It would take me days to explain how the traditional program is structured...so if you have a direct question, I could better answer it.:D

As far as the advantages/disadvantages between TWU and UTHSC...I would SERIOUSLY take a tour of each campus. They are walking distance from each other and will be very helpful in deciding. I visited both and had the opportunity to talk to some students throughout the halls. Your best advice is from the students and NOT the faculty.

You have the opportunity to take Patho and I believe Pharm in advance.

You have the summers off :yeah:

Hi,

I have tons of questions. I'm Sorry...

  1. I was looking all over the website and wonder when is the graduation date for you? So if I am starting this January 2011, am I graduating January 2012 or December 2012?
  2. I also wanted to know how would we be able to take Patho and Pharm in advance?
  3. If I have summers off, would I be able to take one or two courses in the summer to lighten my load in the Fall?
  4. I have a Bachelors degree already and saw that they had two different course paths...would my degree change my class scheule?

Sorry for all the odd questions...i'm trying to take your advice but I'm very nervous and excited at the same time!!

Hi Rebecca,

I can't find the group. Can you post the link to the group please? Thanks!

Just add me as your friend and then I can invite you into the group. Facebook has changed their group options all up.

My name is Rebecca Brumbaugh Arroyo

I also received an acceptance email this morning for the Houston campus. I am waiting to hear from UTHSC-Houston but that probably will not happen until after the deadline set by TWU for acceptance confirmation of Oct. 29th. What happens if I accept TWU's offer but then hear from UT and decide to go there instead?
