I'm curious to what everyone else is doing and how it really is out in this field. Has anyone been promised to 3 twelve hour shifts in the hospital setting and are actually working 3 days a week? Does your workplace stick to giving you 3 twelve hour shifts or are you guys doing mandatory overtime 4 days? Also does your hospital offer holiday pay? Thanks guys!

For me, I will be working 3 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend. No mandation. No on-call. Nice weekend and night differentials. Every employee is given holiday pay regardless if they work the holiday. Those who do get an additional time and a half. There is charge pay too.

3 12 hrs shifts a week, charge pay, weekend and pm and night differential, double time for holidays. no mandatory overtime. union hospital by the way.

Calivianya...We've been doing mandatory overtime for a few months now for almost every shift too and it's getting old. The 5th day is where our incentive pay kicks in. It's ridiculous. Lol . There are people who would like to do that but I'm not one of them.

I would find a new job. I worked a 4th day a couple of weeks ago and when I looked at my pay stub, I found out I got a 50% pay incentive. On top of the overtime, weekend and shift diff. And it was an easy shift to boot (don't have those that often!) I am picking up some extra shift the next schedule for either 30% or 50%. I don't have to but man, the money is sweet~

We have 6 holidays. 3 summer and 3 winter. :) I really love where I work

Three twelves for three weeks and one week I work four shifts. But now that I have enough vacation time I swat down that extra day and keep it at threes, it makes a huge difference in my quality of life.

Ditto! It really does. 3 twelves and one week a 4. I can work with.

When I first started out I was only required to work 3 12's a week and one weekend day shift per month. Meaning that I could work one Saturday or Sunday a month. We had weekend staff. However, I did work 4-5 12's per week because I was buying a house and wanted to pay off my student loans. It wasn't required but I did and oh yeah I quickly burned myself out. Holiday pay was time and a half.

We work 3-12s for full time status. We can schedule anything above that at 1.5 pay, which are called incentive shifts. No mandatory OT.

No mandatory overtime. We schedule 3 12s per week. We can pick up off of the needs list if we like. If they are really short, they will offer an incentive.

Our schedule was set for a year. One week was 3 12s and the next week was 4.

It ran like this:

Sunday-Off

Monday-On (1)

Tuesday-On (2)

Wednesday-Off

Thursday-Off

Friday-On (3)

Saturday-On (4)

Sunday-On (1)

Monday-Off

Tuesday-Off

Wednesday-On (2)

Thursday-On (3)

Friday-Off

Saturday-Off

And then it repeats.

I'm part time so I do two 12s a week. Love it!!! I also pick up extra when I want some extra money .I love the flexibility!!!

No mandated OT, 3 shifts/week split up however, time and a half for holidays and anything over 80 hours/pay period. There always seems to be OT on other floors so there's always various incentives to pick up, even up to double time.
