4 traffic tickets in 1 day

I am a pre-nursing student in the state of Georgia. I work at a retirement home, assisting residents with dementia or Alzimers. I woke up late and was therefore late to my workplace. I was caught speeding about 25 mph over at a 45 mph zone. I also got tickets for failure to maintain lane, speeding in unstable conditions (the road was wet and it was dark), and failure to yeild. I have never been pulled over by a police officer for any reasons. I obviously regret the mistakes I have done. Not only was I danger to myself, but most importantly, a danger to pedestrians and fellow drivers.

I know that I would have to report this to the State Board of Nursing. Do you think these tickets will affect me getting certified for nursing? I am not entirely sure if traffic violations in Georgia is considered to be a misdeamnor. Has this happened to you at any point in your nursing journey and what was you experience in dealing with a situation like this?

Thank you for taking out your time and researching! I was trying to research what the Georgia Board of Nursing had to say after getting the tickets, but I guess I had overlooked. Thank you again!

Most certainly! Every single day I get in the car, it is a reminder of that very day I got the tickets, so I am maintaining proper speed and will continue to do so. I have learned my lesson. Quite horrible that I had to learn it this way.

Don't worry about any of this. Find an attorney's office that handles traffic tickets. Usually for $50 or less they will get the thing outright taken care of or at least reduced down to a parking ticket with no points.

Not sure where you live but around here no lawyer is doing anything for $50 or less. If there is I'd love to have them on speed dial "just in case."

I'm sorry, why should the OP get out of having to pay the full cost of the tickets? They were driving 70mph in a 45mph zone, couldn't stay in their lane, and failed to yield. I can only imagine being on the road with this person while all of this was going on. Better to be late for work, than kill yourself or someone else driving like a ****.

Live in Las Vegas. We have a ton of attorneys that do this kind of stuff. When I say $50 I mean their fee is $50, you still have to pay whatever the fine would have been and I assume the attorney gets to keep that as well.

I assume most localities will have an attorney's office who does something similar, just do some research and you should be able to find the attorney.

OP, your insurance may go up as a result of these tickets. Is there an option in your state to take a defensive driving class in order to have the tickets stricken from the record? I'd look into that.

Speeding at 70mph in a 45mph zone in dark and wet conditions shows very poor judgement. The fine and points are reminders to not do this again.

OK here is the updated version, and relax you are still OK. Directly from the Georgia Nurse Practice Act: (1) Been convicted of any felony, crime involving moral turpitude, or crime violating a federalor state law relating to controlled substances or dangerous drugs in the courts of this state, anyother state, territory, or country, or in the courts of the United States, including but not limited toa plea of nolo contendere entered to the charge

There is nothing in there about reporting traffic violations so you are OK. So relax, and SLOW DOWN! That was some serious speeding you were doing.

Don't you just love that 'moral turpitude' phrase?!? Interesting charge.

I agree with you on this. Who makes that decision that your nursing license can be in jeopardy because of a "moral turpitude" clause? Whose morals get to make that call? Scary stuff that if the morality police are the decision makers.

See if they have ticket clinic where you live. Is usually about $70 but so worth it! Most of the time they win so it's no fines, points on your license. Got me out of a ticket.

Wouldn't the BON would be pretty overwhelmed if they had every traffic ticket reported to them?
