4 traffic tickets in 1 day

I am a pre-nursing student in the state of Georgia. I work at a retirement home, assisting residents with dementia or Alzimers. I woke up late and was therefore late to my workplace. I was caught speeding about 25 mph over at a 45 mph zone. I also got tickets for failure to maintain lane, speeding in unstable conditions (the road was wet and it was dark), and failure to yeild. I have never been pulled over by a police officer for any reasons. I obviously regret the mistakes I have done. Not only was I danger to myself, but most importantly, a danger to pedestrians and fellow drivers.

I know that I would have to report this to the State Board of Nursing. Do you think these tickets will affect me getting certified for nursing? I am not entirely sure if traffic violations in Georgia is considered to be a misdeamnor. Has this happened to you at any point in your nursing journey and what was you experience in dealing with a situation like this?

Why would you have to report traffic tickets to the Bon? If people were denied licenses due to traffic tickets there wouldn't be very many nurses. Did you just get several violations on one ticket or did you get separate tickets at different times on the same day?

Check on that 25 over part of the ticket. For example, in AZ going 20 over the speed limit is a felony and would most certainly caused a license denial for at least a few years. But each state is different, and if you were not arrested the cop could have let you off by reducing the speed he wrote in the violation.

Outside de if that, traffic violations do not usually prevent licensure outside of DUIs and the like.

When filling out any application it will ask you if you have ever been convicted of a felony or been arrested for misdemeanor aside from traffic tickets. Now if you were ticketed for reckless driving that is a different situation as that in certain states is a misdemeanor. I'm sorry if I'm making spelling errors. I do not think it is an issue. Did you offend the officer in some way that he wrote you that many tickets at once? Did you argue with him or something? When getting pulled over your best bet is to apologize profusely and kind of get him on your side. Or her. But regular traffic tickets should not be an issue.

Most states [and employers] require that arrests and convictions other than traffic violations be reported. As long as the tickets issued are classified as traffic violations and not as misdemeanors you should be OK. This information should be somewhere right on the ticket, so read it carefully. If the violations are listed as a criminal complaint [a misdemeanor] instead of as a traffic violation you should get a lawyer with the hope of having charges reduced prior to sentencing.

You are OK then. No need to even report to the BON when you apply for a Georgia license unless you are fined more than $1000.00 so as long as you are able to keep the fines below that number you have no issues.

These tickets are a sign that you are under stress and not managing your time well. Reassess , and see how you can cope better

OK here is the updated version, and relax you are still OK. Directly from the Georgia Nurse Practice Act: (1) Been convicted of any felony, crime involving moral turpitude, or crime violating a federalor state law relating to controlled substances or dangerous drugs in the courts of this state, anyother state, territory, or country, or in the courts of the United States, including but not limited toa plea of nolo contendere entered to the charge

There is nothing in there about reporting traffic violations so you are OK. So relax, and SLOW DOWN! That was some serious speeding you were doing.
