100% Total Tuition Reimbursement

Hello all!

I am currently in nursing school in OK and would like information on hospitals offering contracts with total reimbursement for nursing school to work after school. My date of graduation is set for May 2009. I would like to search every possibility in the country. Then I can narow the search down, and my wife and I will likely move to a hospital that would offer to pay back all nursing school expenses and still be an encouraging place to work.

Thanks and I look forward to what you can help me find!

I'll be very honest with you it seems to me that there are way more students that are running up the school bills with the thought that their future employer will pick up the tab than actual great offers of this type. From what I have seen, and I'm in an area with fairly high pay rates due to a nursing shortage, unless you are a current employee with such an agreement more likely you will be looking at a bonus in the $5,000 range, not exactly a huge windfall, imo. It will be interesting to see what others have found if this isn't the case everywhere. Good luck.

Hospitals in Richmond VA have an option available. Sign on Bonus or loan pay back. They do not reimburse so to speak but pay your monthly payment. They add it to your check and it is up to you to pay. Not a bad deal. I think there is a max but it is around 9K. I could be wrong about the max though.

I have heard if you can find a job with a Veterans hospital the government will pay back your loans.

So your going to search every hospital in the entire country!!?? Sounds like a lot of research for someone who should be focusing on graduation then nclex...lWouldnt it be easier to narrow down 2 or 3 cities where you would like to live and then look at those hospitals??

I can tell you a community hospital in Winemac pay 100% but are going to move there??

Also most hosp have a cap on what they pay for your loans...example being, I went to school with a lady who took out almost 90k in loans so they she could maintain her current lifestyle for 4 years including vacations. I am positive no hosp is going to pay her 1000 a month student loan bill.

Look into Indian Health Services. For an agreement to practice in a priority area (think AZ, AK, SD...) they will reimburse up to 20k a year for 2 years with the option to renew provided your site is still in need.

Also, National Health Service Corp. Again, you must sign a service agreement to work in a crisis area, but large financial payoff.

I have to say I agree with JulesA. I am quite interested in loan repayment because we want to move into mission work and can't do that with large loans. I have heard and met LOTS of new nurses and students, who mistakenly thought that this "loan repayment" and "tuition reimbursement" that everyone was talking about meant that they could almost pick their spot and get it all paid back. Many were shocked to find out that it was a only 2-5k sign on and maybe 1.5-2k retention after that.

Best wishes to you!

Streator IL- St Mary's Hospital does tuition reimbursement (total sum) during your education or 10K loan repayment in exchange for 24mo. contract. Also, 3K a year towards your BSN. ~Ivanna

Offers such as a $5000 sign on bonus makes me thankful for what I have here in the great state of Ohio.

To the OP: There are 2 hospitals here in Dayton that I know will pay a decent percentage of your loans back---however, you would then have to work for them for 2 years.

My current employer will pay tuition up to $7200 per calender year while I am in nursing school towards my BSN. They also will reimburse for all my books each quarter. After this degree they will also pay for my Master's (in full)!!! The clincher is that, as I stated previously, I have to agree to work for them for a certain amount of time...but I don't mind, it's a great deal!

Good luck in your search and don't give up b/c there are some great offers out there:)

Maybe we ought to clarify what the OP was asking.

Are you looking for loan repayment to pay back school expenses already incurred?

Or tuition reimbursement to pay for continued education once employed?

These are very different things.

As the OP to this thread, I would like to first off: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the invaluable information already posted about my search...it will all help me tremendously on my quest! And I would like to attempt to answer a few questions to clarify what I'm asking for...

Yes I would very much enjoy to sign a contract with a hospital that requires me to be employed exclusively to them for a certain amount of time if they are willing to pay for all of my school. Just as long as they are encouraging to work with...

I am currently in nursing school with a little less than a year to go. I am taking out student loans to cover the cost of tuition. I would like my future employer to pay back the cost of the loans that I have and are currently taking out while I'm in school...so when repayment time comes they will pay it back, not me.

Having a program for them to pay me to continue my education would be a plus, but not a requirement for this search. I'm not even sure if I would like to go towards a MSN yet...

Again, thanks for all the info so far! I look forward to anything else you guys can help me with too! It's always lightening to be blessed with positive encouragement to keep trying your best!

Yeah...my hospital only pays 1000 stipend back once you get your license...and that's it. tuition is 5400 reinbursement once you pass classes you are taking, but you have to be approved first, and be employed already.

See, the whole indian service/HHS crisis thing is good if you CAN move/have no committments, family, etc...but some of us do...so go figure. that's life.

Right now, if you join the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp. as an officer, they are paying a $25,000 sign on bonus PLUS they will pay back some of your student loans.
