Our school requires an 850 to pass and I got an 849!!!!!!!!! :angryfire UGH! Freakin' figures! Have to do remediation questions over the summer, but I figure it will be good NCLEX practice anyway.

I take mine in the morning and have not studied. We also need an 850. I have not studied mainly b/c I spent all weekend studying for my mental health final today. Was it hard?

I just finished my first semester in a 2 year program, and we took a HESI test. We didn't have to pass to move on, but if we scored over 850, they would give us a couple points on our final average. I got a 981 which kind of blows, but I at least do get the bonus points.
I'm assuming the test will get harder after each semester, but it's not until our last semester that we are forced to pass it.

Wow! We have to take the Hesi test every semester, but how we do on it is irrelevent. For the 2nd semester Hesi, they just want to see if we are improving from the one we took before 1st semester. I have my hesi tomorrow, and we aren't supposed to study for it. They tell me that it will predict if I will pass the NCLEX_RN though. That'll be cool!
I just took my hesi got a 810 our school suggested we get a 850. Now I have to pay another 37.00 by friday and retake on June 6. Our school is using it for diagnostics purposes but I wonder why they are making us retake it since we still progress into sr. year.
Anyways anyone know of ways I can study to improve my score I did not study at all this time but I am going to start looking over Nclex review stuff and hopefully that will help.
BTW
I am now a sr. nursing student 2 sem. down 2 to go !! God Bless.

You have to pay to take that test!! How rude. :angryfire
Did you get a printout of the ones you got wrong, along with the graph of where your weaknesses were? I got a 978 on the test, but when it did the breakdown, I got some pretty terrible scores in the psychosocial part! We were able to print out the rationals and everything. At barnes and noble (or any bookstore) they have NCLEX flashcards that have the questions with rationals on why it is right and the other answers are wrong. I have found this pretty helpful. Even if the content of the questions isn't applicable to what you are studying at the time, just doing the cards will get your brain thinking like the NCLEX questions.
No they told us it was not allowed but we could meet w/them over summer break to go over the missed ones. I just emailed the instructor to ask can I take it at a later date to give extra study time and I really don't feel like paying 37.00 at the end of the sem. And again its for diagnostics purposes so i feel I should be able to wait.
Is my school the only one charging to take hesi?

I have used Saunders since I started school. This has really helped me to answer questions & understand how to think.I have done well on all my Hesi's so far. They do have a Hesi study program you can buy, not sure how good it is. Some of my classmates do use it & so far my scores are much better than theirs. Maybe someone else has used it & can better tell you how helpful it is. Good Luck!

Our class utilized the HESI exam also although we don't have to pass it to move on. I got an 895 although some areas where actually quite high in the breakdown. We use it to see the areas that we really need to study prior to NCLEX.
Well, it looks like we were charged for the HESI after all, it was incorporated into the tuition...

Ok, I really don't want to sound stupid, but what is the HESI? Is that the same thing as the NLN exam? Students in my program are required to take the NLN exam after each level is completed. Again, sorry for the dumb question but I'd like to know if this is what I'm facing. Thanks.
