Oncall hospice nurse
I work 7 on and 7 off and that is the only reason I am still with the company. I am doing more admissions than oncall. Its gets very intense on weekends bc we may have 5 scheduled visits plus on call and we cover a large territory. Sometimes I think managers think we are robots.

Oncall hospice nurse
Today during orientation I was told they want the on call nurse to be just that "on call" and not have to do admissions. They are presently hiring an admission nurse. Admissions are very time consuming as you said and I can't imagine trying to admit a patient and my phone ringing for a death or change in condition its not fair to either patient.

Season Hospice
I sent it online and it did take a while to get a call back.

Season Hospice
I think you can go to seasons hospice website and apply there. I know they are hiring for continuous care.

Oncall hospice nurse
This is sounding like its going to be presceduled visit/admits along with call. I don't know if I mind or not yet but I do know when I accepted the position I did not think their would be alot of presceduled visits because thats not really call in my opinon. I guess I will see. Its a large hospice so if I can stay in "good graces" in case call does not work out for me I will try to apply for admission RN or Case manger.

Oncall hospice nurse
I will start next week my first time as a full time on call hospice nurse. Census around 65-80. I'm orienting with another nurse they are calling a ride along. I've worked hospice for the last two years per visit but getting nervous about being a full time on call nurse. There is a back up and a admission nurse on call also. The salary offered is great and I will do 7 on and 7 off. Any full time on call nurse can paint a picture of what I may be getting into. How is orientation usually done.

Season Hospice
Has anyone ever worked for Season Hospice in Dallas. I am wondering because they seem to have a lot of positions open. I know they are pretty large. Just accepted a position as on call nurse. It is 7 on 7 off and they think they may change it due to some nurses saying they get burned out... Any thoughts?

ADN army reserves
I would like to join the army reserves but have recently found out via the internet that the army is no longer accepting adn rn's. I am currently in a RN to BSN program but will not be done until Nov,2011. I would like to join now but what are my options if anyone knows because at first I wanted to utilize the army strap program to finish my bsn. As a ADN-RN I cannot join the army reserve is this correct? I am hoping someone can help me understand this. I plan to talk to a medical recruiter on monday. Thanks in advance

Moving to Texas is not a good deal for nurse
How would a person look for a job at a Ltc or rehab facility if they don't live in the dfw area right now most don't have websites. I have been wanting to look outside the realm of hospital nursing but it is hard to do a job search from far away.

Moving to Texas is not a good deal for nurse
I agree w/ some of what the op has said. I have almost 2 yrs. exp as a med- surg nurse. I have been interviewing at DFW major hospitals(not all). I have been quoted 22-24 p/h. That pay is low for an RN especailly since I make 22.20 at a goverment hospital in Arkansas. You would think Texas could do much better. The cost of living is lower here. 23 as a lvn sounds great since I am being quoted that as a RN; if hospitals in DFW are paying that much to nurse interns please let me know which hospital it is. So far the lower cost of living in texas is not adding up for me. I am still relocating there though. Property taxes are a killer everywhere I have looked. If someone knows something I don't know please let me in on it.

UWYO Online RN-BSN BEWARE
I find this to be tru also. I can't get a clear answer on exactly what classes they transferred. I know a couple of my classes I am going to have to take over there b/c they would not accept them. I can't get a clear picture on when I will be graduating. I may w/draw b/c of this b/c I have a plan on when I wan to acheive things and it seems like it could be forever from what I can tell. I can't get anyone there to respond to my answers in a timely manner.
