I am going to disagree with you that it's not a boring job. I have been doing FCM for 4 years and I think it is the most boring job ever. It's mostly paper work, waiting at MD appts and f/u phone calls. But it beats being on your feet for a whole shift or doing an impaction removal.

What I was asking is if the schools are certificate programs or degree programs, how long does it take, etc. If it is a certificate program, how do you market yourself as a nurse massage therapist or just a massage therapist? I am interested in this field, but it is a little confusing to me.

I am interested in doing massage therapy and I am a RN. I lack 3 classes before completing my BSN also, but just am not satisfied with doing nursing any longer. I have been doing case management for the last few years and it is extremely boring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck. As far as the nursing classes, that part went fine. When it came to all the other classes, they don't know their elbows from their butts. They have the nursing department trying to tell the students what humanities, global, and cultural classes to take. The nursing department and the degree analysist do not work well together and I don't think either of them know what they are doing.

I am now taking back what I said about UWYO being a good online school. I have now found that the people of this forum that had problems with UWYO being inconsistent are correct. I would not recommend the school, because when you get ready to graduate they start tacking on more classes that you need such as Cultural 1,2,and 3, Global Context class. and Upper Divsion course even though you have already taken 20 3000 and 4000 numbered classes. I think that it is a money racket. Please beware if you are thinking about enrolling at UWYO.

Yes, you can be successful in case management and not know the area. It will take some effort on your part, but it is doable. You will have to network, go to social services, state agencies and most of these people will lead you to other resources.

I took the test in 2005. The first time I took it I only studied a book by Mullahay(? spelling) and failed it. The second time I took it, I had ordered the 900 question CD and studied it. I passed. I don't think that I went wrong in paying the two hundred and something dollars for it. Having CCM does help open doors with some companies.

Bottom line - MONEY/CONVENIENCE. It was a lot cheaper than most colleges. I don't have to pay for gas to get to the class and it is a lot more convenient than having to go to class rather than jumping on the computer. I didn't have to quit work either. You will be able to do almost everything from your computer. The schools have online libraries. I research nursing articles out of nursing journals online through UWYO's online library. There have only been a few instances where I had to go out to do something for class. It's much easier than going to school and I don't mean the classes are easier, it's just more convenient. I don't have to change clothes, take a bath, fix my hair or put on makeup to attend these classes (this is what I mean by easier).

I will try to answer your questions. I just got finished with all the classes except for an upper division class and then I will be finished at UWYO. 1. I had previously taken a US History class and it transferred as an elective. I had to take POLS 1100 which is a 1 hour course. They are online unless you take a correspondence class and then it will be proctored tests. 2. They probably will take the 3 hour course if it is equivilent to their Stats 2050 course. 3. The NUR 3630 course should count as your physical activity requirement once you have passed it. You should contact Susie Hager at shager @uwyo.edu for other questions. I have been in this program for a while and have taken the classes just a couple at a time. I have been very pleased with the program except for this last semester and they have been screwing up my transcripts also. I have had to call them on a couple of occasions because they kept telling me I needed courses that they had already given me credit for with transfer classes. The program is not as hard as I thought that it would be. A lot of writing papers. I researched a lot of other schools and this one had the lowest tuition and did not require chemistry. The clinical was pretty easy also. I think that you should just jump right in and start taking Patho or Pharmacology. You don't have to be admitted to the nursing program to get started with those classes and they are requirements. I would also suggest that you get the electives and the upper division courses out of the way as soon as possible. Once you have to start writing papers for the nursing classes, it will make it easier not to have the other classes at the same time. Hope this helps.

I was wondering if someone could help me? I have a injured worker that had bilateral PE after rotator cuff repair surgery. He has had treatment with Coumadin for 6 months and is still taking the med until he sees the pulmonologist. He reports that he continues to have shortness of breath, chest pain with any exertion, and coughing (violent coughing at times). Since the PE's he has had to install 3 additional air conditioners in his home and this is in addition to his central air system. The pulmonologist says that he thinks the s/s might be cardiac related, but doesn't think that it's in relation to the PE's. The cardiologist has done some tests including a QV (I think that's the one) which was normal. I am very concerned about this guy. I'm afraid that he might be having a reoccurance of the PE's. What are your thoughts. I would greatly appreciate any input or any questions that might be helpful to ask the pulmonologist and cardiologist.
