Im ready to make some changes and would like to get into the world of travel nursing. I'm an ER nurse and have been for the last 3 1/2 years. Does anyone have any info on traveling to Hawaii....what's the pay, average housing and M/I stipends. Thanks any input would be appreciated.
  2. I sure will. Have you submitted the necessary info for your CA nursing license? I sent my about 3-4 weeks ago. I'm hoping to hear soon. The website indicates about 4-6 weeks. We'll see. LOL. :nuke:
  3. Thanks to all for your input!!!!! It does help.:bowingpur
  4. Yeah I know tha cost of living is significantly more in SF but I'm trying to get a base because my husband will going to school full time and I'm trying to establish some sort of budget. He will not be working and I will be our only source of income. So hence the requests for hourly base pay. I know they are approximate but it will help give me an idea of a yearly income. Thanks!! P.S. I currently live in New Mexico and that's why the inforamtion would also be helpful.:wink2:
  5. Thanks, I've visited those websites and found that there are plenty of job options. Do you have any idea what the range of hourly pay is for a nurse in San Diego? I saw a posting for San Fran that listed the pay at about 42-56 per hour. How much less are San Diego hospitals paying? Thanks again!!!!
  6. My husband and I are planning to relocate to San Diego. I'm wondering what the salaries look like for a nurse with a 3 years expereince? Thanks
  7. I work for Corvel Corporation. They are a national company. go to www.corvel.com for job locations and types. Hope this helps.. PS I love my job
  8. Thanks for your advice, I have decided to continue with the interview process for nurse manager. I am currently waiting to hear back from my boss. Do you have any experience in nursing management and/or suggestions about what you prefer in a nurse manager.
  9. thanks for all your words of wisdom. I think that it has confirmed what my gut feeling about accepting this job would mean. I do have an interview on Friday and will go in with a list of questions I need clarified.
  10. :nurse:thanks for all your help, you've cleared up all the questions I have so far. I start next week and I'll let you know how it's going. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Thanks again for all your answers. A few more questions. What is the typical length of a case? I was told in one of my conversations (pre screening phone call before I actually got an interview) that there is an opportunity to make extra money via bonuses for time billed over the required minimum, was this true for you as well? Also are the IW happy to have a CM or not really and also how often did you have an IW that was trying to take advantage of the system?:wink2: Th:wink2:anks
  12. :yeah:Thanks for the input. You've really cleared up a lot of the questions I had. Sounds like you've had some really positive experiences with FCM. I hope to also. I'm looking forward to the flexibilty of the job. Any suggestions about the difficulties with the job would be helpful. A few more questions: how large was your case load, when you were a FCM how many appointments did you attend and are the job responsibilities about the same as with TCM? Thanks again!!!
  13. I was told in a very brief conversation with my director that she would only want me to cover staff for lunch breaks. She described the job as being more administrative than patient care oriented. I believe that the staff would view me as an extra nurse when needed, I can't say that I would blame them. I have started a list of questions to ask to clarify the job description. I was also told this position is M-F. Thaks again, this is really helping me put it all into perspective. If I do decide to accept this position I would definitely make sure that everyone is aware of my job description so that there is NO confusion.
  14. Thanks for the advice. I'm just hoping to make the right decision. I was told by my director that this job is what I choose to make it as far as the amount of time I spend with it. Also I know that there is a some confusion as to what the director thinks that the job it about and what the staff thinks. Any suggestions about a resonable compromise or is there one?:)
  15. I recently gave my 2 weeks notice to accept a job as a medical case manager for worker's comp case. I would work out of my home and the job would require travel. No nights, weekends or holidays. The very next day after I had given my notice the director of my unit called to ask me to consider the clinical nurse manager position on our unit which recently became available.( the other manager left to be a director at another hospital). I have been approached by a number of the staff to take the position, I have only worked on this unit for 2 years and my previous experience was as a small business owner for 17 years. Can anyone offer some advice about what to do? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
