Took LPN test.....SO DEPRESSED!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took my LPN licensing test yesterday, and lets just say it went WORSE THAN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED!!!!!!! I studied for this thing, and I took a review course and let me tell you nothing prepared me for this test. I am a good student I get good grades and this test really threw me. I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing that the test shut off at 85 questions (the minimum) The review course and the book they gave us didn't format the questions at all like the test was. I am hoping my rationalization skills prevailed and I passed this thing. I am so depressed right now. I literally left the test center bawling hysterically. I can call at noon on Thursday to get my unoffical results. Hope I can survive until then and then handle whatever the results are!!!!

Hugs!

Sara...first off hugs to you! We have all been there and all left our tests feeling like we are dumber then a box of rocks!

Myself I didn't get to study much I had moved to a new town and about a month later I was still busy adjusting to the town and my new job and my brother was killed by a drunk driver here in Michigan (I was living in TN at the time). In the accident was my niece also, so it was very stressfull time. I came back to MI for a week and then returned about a week and a half before my boards. I ad a hard time studying, I was so upset about the death of my brother and deciding to move back to MI. When I took the test, like yourself mine shut off at the minimum amount. I left there feeling inadequate and that I would have to do this all again. But guess what, 2 weeks later I found that I passed with flying colors. So my advice to you is just breath and deal with it as it vcomes, and if I can pass with all the stress I had you can too! Good luck! (((HUGS)))

hi and hugs to you sara! i know it is hard to do but try and relax. when i took my lpn boards, it was pencil and paper. the people at my table all left long before i did and i thought, i am so dumb. but just at that moment before i lost my concentration, i took a deep breath and finished my exam. although i had to wait 6 weeks, i passed on the first try.

we all have these feelings or some similar to what you have describe.

let us know when you get your "unofficial" results. keep the faith!

I'll go ahead and say CONGRATULATIONS now!!!

I think 85 is a great thing! I also had the minimum # and I passed (after 3 weeks of worry....no number to call to get "unofficial" results!):D Welcome to nursing and best of luck to you.

Happy Nursing~Angie

Mine shut off at 85 too when i tested. The only question I was sure of the answer i push the wrong button and got it wrong. Left the testing center and 4 hours later had to call my nursing instructor to come get me at a neighborhood bar cause i could not make the 2 hour drive home in my "condition". One nasty hangover and 2 weeks later i was a LPN. Rn boards were much easier since i knew what to expect.

keep your chin up dollbaby! you relax and let go of that exam because there is nothing you can do to change what's done...ya here me? :kiss you gave it your all...now just trust in what you were taught, and how you applied what you were taught in your clinical settings, and don't condemn yourself for anything...not one single thing! my gut tells me you passed. :nurse:

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm sure you did fine! When I took my LPN boards, I just KNEW I failed. But, found out later I PASSED!! I'm sure you will too!

Just took my RN boards, felt unsure about that too. I found out I passed those too. You'll do fine!

Hang in there. Dont sell yourself short.

I know congratulations are in order. Everyone feels the way you felt that day.:imbar We all welcome you to the nursing field.:nurse:

THanks for the words of kindess. Trust me I am lucky I didn't end up at a bar someplace. HOWEVER I did end up at a mall 1 hour from home locked out of my car sitting in Carson Pierre Scott crying hysterically. I figured that locking my keys in my car was an omen that I definately FAILED. I will keep my chin up (or at least off of the floor) until I find out tomorrow.

Thanks!!!

Hugs!

Let me add a little something here also,

The testing does not look for a specific number of right vs wrong. The testing is a competency testing, it will start with an easy question, you get it right, you get one a little harder and so on and so on until you get no more right. This gives the computer a level of your knowledge, not just a snapshot of what you know.

I really find it hard to believe that you knew so very little that the computer decided that at question 85 (the minimum) you were not passing.

I am sure you did fine.

Sara......Mine shut off at 86......thought I messed up, but thought the questions were rather easy.....just have a knack for nursing.....most of it's common sense!

I'm trusting you did good......One of my friends had to answer all 250 questions......she cried all the way home....2 1/2....I had to listen to this since I drove!...........she passed and started crying all over again.

Took the test on a Tues and found out Friday. I know we are going to get good news Thursday....be sure and let all of us know!!!

:kiss

Sara, take it easy. We've all been there, I promise. Just let us know on Thursday that you are gonna be okay, after you get the word.

Back in the day, we had to wait 6 WEEKS to find out-for both LPN and RN. It is a wonder I ever had any fingernails! LOL!
