If he is so horrible, why have you worked there ten years? You have to know the whole story. When I started working for him, he was actually working in a practice setting, but for a local hospital. I was paid by the hospital for 8 yrs. then 2 yrs. ago he went on his own and our entire staff me, him and 2 others went with him with promises of 401k, paid insurance and etc. now 2 yrs. later its nothing, and he has changed since the bills are in his mail box, which can make a person change, but we still have a 10 yr. relationship ya know? Its hard to explain, I dont think he is a monster, I just dont think he is a mananger and I dont feel like I'm getting anywhere, and then after the dock in pay, (which i did get paid for after taking a verbal lashing) I guess I just took it personal.

Hi All, I am an LPN in an office for 10yrs. 1 doc. and 1 nurse (me) Maybe he's like all of them I dunno but this guy is so wishy washy and makes up new rules as he goes. Get this I have rarely missed a day in 10 yrs. No kid programs, working with bronchitis, and working with a broke finger on my writing hand. Never missed. Last week I had stomach virus BAD. You know when your on the toilet with a trash can in your face? Excuse the graphics. Anyway I was sick and missed Mon. and Tues. My shift was covered by a retired nurse we know and all was good. Until I came in on Wed. still with a low grade temp. about 100.1 or so, but I was there. I got my check and found out he docked my pay, well, you say he has the right, and yes he does except if our office mgr. or receptionist misses they get a chance to make up their time and all is well. Well he wasnt there but I called him and he said "Well all time has to be made up by the end of the yr. and there isnt enough days left in the yr. for you to make this up" Uhhh? :uhoh21: When did this rule start? Never heard of such. Well to make a long story short the office has been closed since then, and I'm really taking this personal. I'm wanting to give up my 10 yrs. (which is all I have to show for my time) and start looking for another job. Do I do this or let it all slide once again? You can not approach him even in a positive setting. He will talk down to you and you'll walk out with your tail between your legs. So I feel like I either let it go or I go. Someone plz. give me some ideas.

Tennessee sounds good to me.....CORNY huh? Oh well thats where I'm at. I live in NW Tennessee. Fairly mild winters and summers. I live in a small town, but I am 1 hour from Jackson Tn. one way and 1 Hour from Paducah Ky. in the other direction. I am one hour north of Memphis, where my daughter is a senior this yr. and University of Memphis (sorry, got carried away) Anyway the crime rate is little to none here. The schools are great. And the LPN's here start out at around 13.00-$14.00/hr. The people are great, the schools are wonderful. We visit other areas of Tn. as well and as far as beauty..... Nashville is an AWESOM place. I am an LPN x 12 yrs. and I work in a Dr.'s office. I've been there 81/2 years. And in my area there are no RN's in the office, if so it's rare! Even in the cardiologist office's. I think the reason for this is the pay. Rn's can get better pay ANYWHERE else around here. And in THIS area (TN) the RN's here aren't skilled in things such as EKG's and phlebotomy. When I worked at the hospital, they didnt have to do such things. But on that same not neither did the LPN's. I had to wing most of my (now) abilities at first. My pay isnt that great, but my hours are wonderful. I guess you gotta figure out which means more.

I have been an LPN for almost 13 yrs. When I started, I was working full time in a popular resturant in management. I thought I could go to school full time 8am-2pm Mon-Fri. work 3-11 at the resturant raise 3 kids ages 2,5 and 6 plus a husband. Well I couldnt. Ended up having to quit my job,moving into a smaller cheaper home, and filling bankruptsy, all to follow my nursing dream. Now my kids are older, but I am still gun shy. I cant quit my current job with great pay to sell out again and go back to school. And my only reason would be for the initials behind my name. My pay would stay the same. And I cant go full time and work too. I WILL NO FILE BANKRUPTCY AGAIN! One day I do plan to take a class here and there to slowly do the RN thing, but Then what about clinicals? I Dont know the answer to the dreaded question. I only know how it works for me. Right now I have a daughter in college that I pay dearly for and a son who will be a freshman in highschool next yr. and eagerly wanting to continue his education. Its all about where our priorties lay, and mine are with my kids. I have already had to move them once because of my dream, the left their friends and school, done without so much, had free lucnhes and now I have to concentrate in their avenues. Just my 2 cents here but......we all have different reasons for what we do. And I'm proud of my choices. I am a good NURSE. and a good mother.

badbird, tha is the same thisng my dad said to me. He said " dont worry about what you cant control." My dad has since passed away, but I keep those words close to me at all times. Sometimes it dont help, but I'm still learning. He was a very WISE man!

Well I have to admit I dont wear gloves as much as I should. I work in a Dr.'s office and I'm not exposed to as much as some of you are. But if we have a pt. with a shady past, I defintly wear those critter getters.=lol We should ALL ALWAYS wear gloves. Its easier if thats what your taught, and not something you've had to learn along the way.

Poor nurse here. Definitly no money. Is there an amount you can put on someone's life? I dont think so.

When I worked in med-surg I was walking down the hall and I kept hearing this awful spuing sound. I kept walking till I found out where it was coming from. I walked in a pts. room and here lays this man about 80 y/o totally not with it. He had been restrained and was laying there coughing up loogies and spitting them straight up in the air, of course they (the loogies) came back and splattered him in the face. I stood there for a minute and tried to figure out which direction I could run and hide. But as I stood there I was wondering my God how in the world am I gonna get this cleaned up? I will vomit just from the nasty sounds he was making. So here is my secret. I went to get wash cloths and cleaning stuff and when I came back two other nurses were there to clean him and since they were doing such a nice job a third person would had just been in the way right??? I snuck right outta there. Yep I couldn't handle it anyway. I was gone! Never told the rest of them my story=lol

Day 2 and 3 MOM and if that dont work.. Try dynamite works everytime:D

Heck:eek: All I can say is call the U-Haul truck! I'm outta here:eek: I've been nursing for 11 years and only make 12.25/hour. This is craziness!:uhoh21: I'm moving to sin city! wait I was born a hoosier maybe I'll follow my roots and make some moey while I'm at it. Gosh! I cant believe what I'm reading. Dont worry about it just GO and DO IT. You have a dream and thats what you have to hold on to.

I use to be a pro. baby catcher back in the day. (about 7yrs. ago) I loved every minute of it. Always an emotional time for all of us. Well at least for the nurses and parents. But your right. We always said our Doc's would POP and PIT everyone. And heaven forbid if someone slowed down and it was getting time for the Doc's bedtime or supper. I do believe the pts. have a right to an epidural. But they should be in active labor and at least 4cm. Anyway I guess those days are gone for me. The best delivery I was ever involved in was the birth of my grandson.:biggringi What an awesome experience for us all. It didnt matter that I was with 10,000 women who gave birth and even caght several myself. Cant wait for the next grandbaby.

Well guys and gals, I work in an office and work hand in hand w/ a Dr. and he is a very good christian man with a good family. His wife was a phlebotomist. Anyway in all his glory I could never think of having a relationship with him even if we both wern't married. Although he is a good christian man he is very narrow minded and always right about everything(even when he is wrong) If he finds himself in a situation he knows little or nothing about he will come up with 15 letter words to make everyone else feel stupid. Now we as females know MOST men are this way, but it seems they get even worse with a few initals behind their names. The other Dr. in my clinic is divorced from a nurse. And is currently dating another one about 1/2 his age. So I'll stick with the Wal-Mart greeter,plumber, mechanic or whatever. I have a wonderful husband who is home everynight and thinks he has been married to the perfect wife for 15 years. Hope he never finds out differently.:rotfl: :chair:

All these poop stories are too funny. I have one thats not related to nursing. My 2 month old neice and her mom came to visit. Of course during the visit the baby had a bm. Being the "great aunt" that I am I volunteered to change her. I pulled back the diaper and to my surprise she wasnt finished. She let out a grunt like a grown man, and with the force of a tornado came this explosen of poop! I looked down and it was all over me, and even shot across the room about 6 ft. It was unbelieveable. And what a mess to clean up. But she sure felt better. And was such a happy baby afterwards.=lol:chuckle :kiss
