Today, I am thankful for......

Published

1. An intact and fully functioning rectum

2. Opiates

3. My bed

4. Lack of psychosomatic disorders

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful to be a nurse! It is truly a privilege.

Also, for the new job offered I accepted!

That my floor is switching back to 12 hour shifts instead of 8s. Only temporarily but it's a start. I hate working 10/14 days. Yay for 6-7/14 :)

What am I thankful for? Some really good responses here. Here's mine:

1. Functioning rectum. Oh, yeah.

2. Didn't know Sharknado 3 was so close. Woot!! Popcorn time with my daughter!!

3. After 36 years in Nursing, a job with enough stress to keep me interested, but not enough to impact my health (have had a few of the second-it sucks). And only a few minutes from home.

4. Being told that I don't look older than 40 (a compliment since I turn 59 this year). Bless the good German-Irish peasant stock on my dad's side.

5. Being debt free-car paid and in good shape, zero balances on the credit cards, no loans, actual savings!!

I'm sure there are more, but time to get ready for work. Oh, one more:

6. Blackhawks won!! Take THAT, Spike Lee. I'm proud to be from Chicago!!

Specializes in Peds Urology, primary care, hem/onc.

1) That I was able to get up on my own each day and go to work.

2) That although it drives me nuts a lot, I have a good job and can make a good living.

3) I love the "functioning rectum" LOL gotta be thankful for that one! And a functioning bladder!

4) Most importantly, after the events in Charleston this week (which absolutely breaks my heart) that I know I am going to be able to go to my place of worship on Sunday and see my Pastor up on the alter. I am also grateful and in awe of the amazing people of faith in Charleston. Watching them come together in love after such a horrific tragedy....they are much better people than I will ever be. I will continue to pray for all of them!

Today, I am thankful for my family. My mom and dad came to visit me for a few days. They live 8 hours away so I only get to see them a few times a year. My son loves his grandparents and I miss my mom and dad!! :angrybird5:

Today I am thankful that I have two children who act like little insane people more often than not but who are also joyful, loving, healthy, and wonderfully quirky like their parents.

Today I am grateful for the Lunch Lady who used up all her bacon and biscuits on us!

Specializes in PCT, RN.

I'm always thankful for the little things that are often taken for granted.

The fact that my cat "talks" to me and I can generally understand what he wants/needs.

Having clean silverware provided when I go out to dinner.

Having nice teeth without ever needing braces.

There are a million things that I am grateful for, big and small.

Specializes in 15 years in ICU, 22 years in PACU.

1) Ditto on the controllable bowel and bladder function. Loss of that is my criteria for pulling the plug.

2) My 104 degree personal Hot Tub.

3) Co-workers who can retire /get new jobs. We have had 5 giant cakes in the last two days.

4) Good people who do their civic duty. The citizen who spotted the Charleston Killer and turned his azz in to the police.

I'm thankful for the fact that the biggest fear I faced today was having 7 inches cut off my hair.

Ok, I got to "7 inches" and my mind skittered off in another direction.

I blame this on it being Friday and I'm done with work. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I am NOT thankful that it is 108 degrees here right now. Boo.
