To work right after graduation or to take all foreign exams first before working?

Sis take all the exams right after graduation so everything is still fresh... or review first then take the exams then after the exams, work for some experience.

That's what I'm going to do after graduation.

I've been reading alot on here about not needing to be licensed in the Philippines to be able to work abroad, but there are some states in the US that do require foreign graduate nurses to be licensed in their country.

I hope you get alot of replies on this topic so I learn some too.

Hey my fellow colleagues!!! Please help me with this issue of mine. Especially to PINOY RN's over there, would you please share your experiences or your advices as to which is really better or yet the best option coz I'm in real dillema right now as to whether to work my two year contract in a hospital before taking specifically NCLEX and IELTS or to study them all first and take them within a year time before working? You see I wanna know how true it is that there are some states abroad that don't need experience as long as you're an NCLEX-RN passer. Plus i also heard some stories that they took the exams first without working and yet they were hired in some states without experience here in our country and were also trained even in special areas like the OR... I need you help puhleez? Muchisimas Gracias!!!

Hi. I took all the exams (CG, IELTS, NCLEX) after graduation. It was easier and cheaper for me because I enrolled in a review program for a combined CG and NCLEX review. I took CG last December and NCLEX last June. I just did a bit of self studying for NCLEX.

But it was a bit tricky when I applied for a job, they always ask what have you been doing after graduation and of course I couldnt really tell them I took all the US exams, they wouldnt hire you or will try to make you sign a 5 year contract (normal is 2 years).

The hospital experience here in the Phil is not at par with the US hospital experience anyway so it wouldnt really matter. But some nurses would just try a job here to boost their confidence in dealing with patients.

I know some dont require experience because I was hired without any.

But in the end, it's still up to you.

I took all the exams first before I start to find a work (TOEFL, TSE and NCLEX). all in my first shot. i just took the nclex last july.. and now, im gonna start working in a hospital on monday for me to become productive while waiting for the visa... haha! 1 year of being a BUM! during the interview, they asked me what i've been doing for the past yr.. i honestly say that i did all the foreign exams first:D.. it's ok.. at least they know...:nurse:hospitals usually have 2-3 years contract.. some don't have.. hospital experience here doesn't really matter if you plan to work in the US.. but i want to work here while waiting for the visa to gain my confidence back (1 yr BUM) hehe! and be a productive citizen!

actually.. im so anxious to start working as a nurse in a hospital... coz it's been a year since my last duty in a hospital (student nurse)... huhu!

Complete all required exams such as NCLEX and IELTS before starting to work. I know some from my batch who worked first but now are finding it hard to leave work for the exams.

I graduated last year and passed NLE last year (good for me!). Taken and passed NCLEX and IELTS this year. Now, I am processing my Visa Screen. While doing this, I am looking for a good sponsor (direct hire). I have no plans to work here in the Philippines anymore.

Pass the Local Nursing Exam first,then proceed to Foreign exams...think one step at a time..

well right now, my sponsor in usa was requiring me to have an experience here in the phil. but unfortunately hospitals here are asking me why I don't work for about a year... its hard now to find a job....,

well anyone who could suggest a hospitals here in philippines, that i could get a certificate for about a month thanks...

I suggest that you finish all your exams as it is difficult to go back to the books once you start working...take CGFNS and NCLEX close to each other so you review only once. Agencies now hire even without hospital experience, just as long as you look for a job while waiting for a visa. Prioritize....set goals....but then again, this is only a suggestion
