Tired of Pre-Reqs

Published

To everyone that is not able to apply til later this year....

anyone tired of all the pre-reqs?

Argh. Sometimes I wake up and go, "geez I will never be in NS". I mean I kinda just started spring semester of 2011, its the end of the 3rd week. All I can think about is wow, I have about 13 weeks to go.

And after that 13 weeks, I am still not eligible for NS! I still need an important O-chem class I couldn't fit into this semester. They don't offer it in they don't offer it in the summer so I have to wait until this fall to take it. I have 2nd day registration at my school, so no point going somewhere else to take it.

So I don't know. Sometimes I get bummed out because I don't qualify to apply until the beginning of NEXT year.

Thanks to this state (CA) and its budget problems and the economy, a lot of programs shut down their spring admittance. So therefore if your done with everything in fall, you have to wait to get in THE NEXT fall. Ridiculous eh?

I guess I am just venting. Everyone applying and getting accepted its awesome but I look at it and go, dang I have a long way to go STILL. I am applying to BSN programs which do require more than ADN programs but where I live, employers (that are actually hiring...rarely) want BSN over ADNs....sad...

So I guess my question is, is there anyone out there like me?

Yikes.

That is why a lot of people have a hard time with chemistry. It's because of the math. They dread it.

My advice is as you read the question. Label everything. Chemistry is all about what the concentration of chemicals are, how many moles of what do yoy need to mix what.

Label as youcross cancel. I can't stress that enough. If you don't you will forget what tour doing and lore likely to mess up. I also suggest that when you input it into a calculator, multiple everything on the top and get a number. Same with the bottom. Then divide. Unless you have an awesome calculator or you have a graphing one, I stick to the above method.

Balancing your equations is a must. You have to know how to do that. As well as redox rxns and acid and bases

AWESOME! I am excited to take chem. for the first time in my life, I lOVE math! It is crazy, but I am beginning to really love it.. and I will hold you to that chem and bio help...lol.

I did my first draw today.. WHEW so glad that it is over with. I messed up the end, but I got the vein first try and my instructor complemented my technique and said I went in with the right speed and angle and removed the needle with the correct speed and angle. I can't wait to do it again! Lab again on Tuesday, lecture on Monday.. looking forward to it. This weekend I am curling up with my Algebra book and my Psych text.... how is everyone else doing?

I am working on A&P I and stupid English 112. I am currently only taking 2 classes at a time due to work and kid restraints. It seems like forever until I will be finished. It's terribly frustrating sometimes. A&P is much harder than Micro, and I really thought it would be the other way around.

And I echo the sentiment of not looking forward to Chem.

you thought physio was hard? my micro class, half thinks its hard and half don't. the people who think its hard are generally the ones who already took physio and said it was easy. Since I am taking micro and physio, its seems that like 80% of my physio class is struggling. we just had our first physio exam and a lot of people ran out of time. I was done 2nd with 30 mins left. I m a fast test taker. I just can't take tests slow. I second guess myself.

how did you get into micro w/o chem. its a pre req for us to get.into micro.

I take o chem this fall. Yay!

If you love math, then you ace chem

Ohh I am there too... I have a super long road...

For the BSN program I need to take...

3 maths

1 english

2 chems

However due to where we live and having small children the BSN program is not an option for me right now.

SO I want to take the Practical nurse program...

For that I need

1 English

2 A&P's

And 1 math

BUT.... I have stoped the pre-req's for now and just applied to a health care aide program. I cant wait to start working I need the $$ now to pay for my education!

....So as you can see. I am taking the LONG road!

I'll get there one day, one day!

Aw well that's a good start. You can always apply for it later. The programs never going to move so it'll be there when your ready!

Good luck

LOL.. I was a little scared, but I got over it pretty quick. We have the most wonderful group in our class. Everyone is really nice and very conscientious.

I did two more yesterday, so I feel a bit better now. Sorry for the late response.. it has been a busy week! I have another busy week of studying so I will probably not be able to post much more until Saturday, but all is going well so far..

I have taken one math quiz, one Phleb test and will have another test this Friday. So far.. so good.. got 100% on my quiz and my test, so I hope to keep that pattern up..

Everyone else still hanging in there???

i have to take chemistry before i can take the teas test to get into rn school..really worried how hard that will be.

ok scratch that..i will be starting this summer with math and sociology..i told them i wasn't good in math so i'm taking a math prep.

How about finishing the pre-reqs. in fall with a post-baccalaureate GPA of 3.82 over 37 units (took me two years), and then not getting in to any of the ABSN, DE-MSN, or even my local ASN that I applied for?

Oh, and my ex-GF got into Yale.

WOW GOOD JOB!:D Keep up the good work!

All is well. My 2 weeks of hell are over with. Took my micro lab quiz, got a 91%, meh as long as I get the letter 'A' on my transcripts, I don't care how low or high the A is. That was last week along with my physio midterm the next day, it went well. This week I find out (i was second done with my physio exam and I sit in the front) appartenly 6 cheaters out of a class of 120 got caught

How dumb can you be?

Anyway this week I did my physio lab practical, not bad. and I also today did my micro midterm 2. It was hard...and everyone thinks that they bombed it! the questions were tricky and it was just hard. I knew the material but the trickiness to the questions along with the essay questions being weird, put all of us out.

Whew glad its over [for now]

Ok you finished your pre reqs this fall or last?

Your post bachelor degree is 3.82, so is that your pre req gpa or your B.A./B.S. combined? Hmm, did you have great letters of rec? All pre reqs done with the highest grades (all A's if not, 1 or 2 B's minimum) and even healthcare exp/volunteer exp? TEAS/HESI score too low?

I am sorry...you didn't make it in. And it isn't fair that its this competitive. Its as if we are all applying to med school eh?
