Tired of Pre-Reqs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

To everyone that is not able to apply til later this year....

anyone tired of all the pre-reqs?

Argh. Sometimes I wake up and go, "geez I will never be in NS". I mean I kinda just started spring semester of 2011, its the end of the 3rd week. All I can think about is wow, I have about 13 weeks to go.

And after that 13 weeks, I am still not eligible for NS! I still need an important O-chem class I couldn't fit into this semester. They don't offer it in they don't offer it in the summer so I have to wait until this fall to take it. I have 2nd day registration at my school, so no point going somewhere else to take it.

So I don't know. Sometimes I get bummed out because I don't qualify to apply until the beginning of NEXT year.

Thanks to this state (CA) and its budget problems and the economy, a lot of programs shut down their spring admittance. So therefore if your done with everything in fall, you have to wait to get in THE NEXT fall. Ridiculous eh?

I guess I am just venting. Everyone applying and getting accepted its awesome but I look at it and go, dang I have a long way to go STILL. I am applying to BSN programs which do require more than ADN programs but where I live, employers (that are actually hiring...rarely) want BSN over ADNs....sad...

So I guess my question is, is there anyone out there like me?

OMG I feel the same way. My CC changed the A&P after I took it once, got a D, was taking it the 2nd time to find out they were changing the curriculum and it wouldn't be any good. Waste of time and financial aid and too late to drop it. :( And instead of just being able to take the 2 new A&P's I had to take a BIO and CHM class FIRST! wth!? So an additional YEAR added before I could apply. So now I can not apply until Fall 2012 for the Spring 2013 admission. Stinks!!!!!!!:down::down: :crying2::crying2::crying2:

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!

I too wondered when I could actually tell people that I was "in a program". After over a year of pre reqs I finally got in as well!

You are EXACTLY where God wants you to be!

Best of luck to you,

:) Jen

Hang in there! there is a light at the end of the tunnel! I too am ALMOST done with my pre-reqs... but I took the long route as I am also pursuing my AA degree at the same time. I also am applying to a BSN program (as well as ASN) so yes, more classes. Fortunately, most of the BSN pre-reqs are the same as AA pre-reqs and the overall IGETC (california) to get into any university. With that said.... most pre-reqs suck, but all in all I love learning!!!! So just stick with it. See the end goal and keep chugging along!! You can do it if you really want, and I know this has probably been said time and again, but it'll be here faster than you know it!!!!!

Don't get discouraged!

I just got my first NS acceptance this week after 2 years and 8 months since I started my pre-reqs. I have to get ready to move to another state in within 10 weeks. =)

I started my pre-reqs last year and still not yet completed. If you are out of high school over 10 years, they want you to repeat every science course. That is frustrating.

I am not done with pre-reqs. you know what.Even if i finish them, i should prepare and take nurse entrance and wait for 30 days after the result to waitlist my name.

Omg, time is being extended for everything and everytime.

Feel like i want a time machine.

Even after waitlisting, there will be a long wait to get into the program.

But thinking of being a RN one day,to see me as a nurse working in a hospital keeps me going.

All the best.

The only pre reqs they require at my school A&P 1 and 2 plus the labs....All the other "pre reqs are part of the program..

Wow that is NICE! is that ASN or BSN?

Wow that is NICE! is that ASN or BSN?

Oh, The ASN......BSN..one could only wish:)

But this school also require you to have a score of 19 or above on your ACT test. They look at your grade for A&P first, then your ACT score and then you overall college grade. I try to take all my co-reqs before I apply so all I have to worry about is nursing classes once i get accepted.

i hear ya beachbedhead! don't be bummed though! your gonna make it! :) i am so tired of taking pre reqs! i am close to having a meltdown and pulling all of my hair out! :sstrs: it's my own fault though, because i wasn't a very good student last year and i am definitely paying for it now! but keep ur head up and you will definitely succed! good luck to you and everyone else who is trying to get into a nursing career! :icon_roll

I'm tired of pre-reqs and it's only been one term...I've got one more semester left. That's the great thing about my LPN Program...not that long of a pre-req time, but if I'm too anxious already, I can't imagine how most of you feel. I am going for my BSN after this and only very few credits will transfer over...can't imagine how I'm going to feel once I go for that. Keep up the work everybody! You're getting closer and closer!

Amen! I am sooo tired of General Ed requirements and the further along the track I get they just keep popping up. Some for LPN, some for RN/ADN, some for BSN, some for MSN... heck they just keep going... but keep plugging along you'll get there!

I quiet my job, lost my house, and relocated from my family and friends. I am currently taking my pre-reqs now for a BSN in nursing. I have chosen to do nursing because all of my experiences has been in medical. As a Medical Assistant for nine years. I have completed some of my pre-reqs, It is time and I am ready for what ever is ahead of me. I will be an RN,BSN! Glory to GOD. I am walking into my destiney.
