To everyone that is not able to apply til later this year....
anyone tired of all the pre-reqs?
Argh. Sometimes I wake up and go, "geez I will never be in NS". I mean I kinda just started spring semester of 2011, its the end of the 3rd week. All I can think about is wow, I have about 13 weeks to go.
And after that 13 weeks, I am still not eligible for NS! I still need an important O-chem class I couldn't fit into this semester. They don't offer it in they don't offer it in the summer so I have to wait until this fall to take it. I have 2nd day registration at my school, so no point going somewhere else to take it.
So I don't know. Sometimes I get bummed out because I don't qualify to apply until the beginning of NEXT year.
Thanks to this state (CA) and its budget problems and the economy, a lot of programs shut down their spring admittance. So therefore if your done with everything in fall, you have to wait to get in THE NEXT fall. Ridiculous eh?
I guess I am just venting. Everyone applying and getting accepted its awesome but I look at it and go, dang I have a long way to go STILL. I am applying to BSN programs which do require more than ADN programs but where I live, employers (that are actually hiring...rarely) want BSN over ADNs....sad...
So I guess my question is, is there anyone out there like me?
Trust me, when your close but not close enough you will understand. I'm done in Dec but I'm just praying spring semester will end. Summer intersession will go by fast. And when I apply to one school in. Nov (I apply to the other two in Jan) that I will hear the decision by the time I apply to the others.
But alas I won't. I won't get a decision until end of NEXT spring semester.
Tired and DONE with Pre-Reqs and did not get into Nursing School, BSN. I had a 3.7 GPA with my BA; a 3.9 for my MA but a 3.2 for my pre-reqs (I worked my butt off for B's!!!). I worked as a C.NA. in a hospital...guess I wasn't meant to be a nurse. I looked into another BSN program (which had 4 more pre-req's... ) and they told me to take Micro, Chem and A &P I & II over because I got B's!!! No thank you....I'm done with this. Good luck to the rest of you.
I'm replying to my own quote. Guess what? I just got a call from the original BSN program I applied to and they offered me an opening in their traditional program starting in June! Just like that...I wasn't even told I was on a waiting list! Guess I didn't need all A's in my pre-req's. Can't believe I'll actually be starting a GREAT BSN program in a month and a half!
I feel ya. Let's see: I have had 2 levels of Algebra (beginning and intermediate)
Nutrition, Pharmacology, 3 levels of Psych, 2 English,
Art Appreciation, 1 government, Med Term 1&2, Medical Law & Ethics,
Intro to Health Professions, Phys ED, A & P 1 and 2, Microbiology....
FINALLY start NS in August. And this last semester was the hardest emotionally...just tired of pre-reqs. Very hard to explain to EVERYONE that is not in NS.....family friends co-workers, that you are working this hard , and not even IN nursing school yet?!?!
Hang in there.....you will get there...eventually!!! Confession: I was so relived and happy when I turned in my acceptance...I cried in my car for 10 minutes.
Lol ppl keep asking me the same thing as well! Its very furstrating! They also start assuming I know things, like I'm already a RN!! Ugh... They don't understand I'm a "PRE" Nursing Student (BSN) lol. But for me I have some ways to go!! I'm starting fresh and will be going to school full time every semester till I'm ready for NS. This summer I'm taking 4 classes, this fall 5, next spring 5, so I'll be very busy! The rate I'm going I should be in Nursing School by Spring 2012! Which really isnt that far away. Also I'm working full time (40 hours) at night to top it off. Thank God I dont have any kids! My roommates will be in Pharmacy & Engineering School by the time I'm in Nursing School, were going to be busy busy busy studying. I'm already tired of my pre-reqs but when I think about the future, it quicky reminds me of where I want to be. Don't give up!!! Stick with it
haha boojum..me too!.....so..when do you graduate.....well ya see,I am only taking a class at a time...i had to have 2 classes in order to get it and now i am just taking some classes that go along with the program so i am not so overwhelmed with nursing school...so when do you start clinical s....haha..i wont start that til i am in NS....and over it starts....
You know when people ask you "aren't you in NS yet"? ...
....my reply "Not yet...."
Then they go "What have you been doing this whole time?"
....my reply "Um pre-reqs...."
Not to toot my own horn but, I so thought I was going to have to have this conversation as well. As it turns out, by the grace of God, I did get in this year.
My conversations are more like:
"I'm going to nursing school."
"Oh yeah, that's great, when do you start?"
"In August."
"Oh you got in?!"
Everyone knows it takes years of pre-reqs to prepare for nursing school. I didn't really tell anyone. I didn't even tell anyone I was applying to avoid the 'whole you're not in nursing school yet' conversation, so they're all surprised when I tell them I'm going this year.
