Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I've been following this thread for sometime now as I too have applied for endorsement, even drove from Austin, TX to San Diego (my hometown) to do my livescan. What I'm frustrated about is that the BRN website has updated their processing time for a temp license. I spoke to the licensing supervisor on 8/12 regarding my application and he stated it would take 6-8 weeks for a temp license which is all I want at this point so I can start working my contract in Sacramento. However, when I checked the BRN website they have a new chart posted stating that this has been updated on 8/26 in regards to processing times. Now, a temp license will take 10-12 weeks to process according to their lovely chart. I'm sending in my complaint now.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know they had that chart posted. That is completely absurd that the timeframe for the temporary is the same as the permanent. Of course upon following this thread it seems people have been getting their permanent license before ever receiving a temporary. Still, it's the principle of it. Why even have the option to apply for a temporary then? So frustrating!

Let us know what happens with your complaint. Good luck.

Yes I did. They said they have everything, they just need someone to review my transcripts which makes no sense to me, so I'm still waiting.

I along with many folks paid for a temp license but didnt get one. However, I remember a prev poster writing that someone at CA BON told her that they will issue a temp license to someone who has everything for endorsement but is missing the communication requirement. By issuing the temp which is good for 6 months, it gives the applicant the time to take a class to satisfy the requirement.

Hi everyone, I have been following this post myself and I think I have read almost all 37 pages of it! I am currently an RN in Oregon and sent all my documents in end of Aug, my tracking told me this was all delivered 8/26. I had the transcripts mailed end of Aug as well from both of my schools and had my Nursys verification sent in around this time as well, after the app and everything was delivered, to help cover that 90 day mark for Nursys. My check has still not been cashed, I did call someone last week who told me that because I mailed it to the PO box (like instructed), it has to go through 3 more mailing systems and would be another 2 weeks. I should have sent it overnight to the main address :( Have been so anxious through this whole process. I also have a ticket to explain to them as well so I know there is that delay too. I really just want to get the check cashed because my biggest fear is that it got lost! So I am anxiously awaiting them to take my freakin money. I am trying to get down to California to be with my family and my boyfriend, I was hoping to be gone the new year but now I am afraid it wont be until March that I get my license, and then still have to look for a job at that point. I don't want to run into an issue where I get a job and don't have the license, so I decided to wait until I know its been issues to job hunt.

I did send all paperwork overnight to the CA BON-costly but a better paper trail. As for NURSYs, years ago an agency paid for my DC license to be sent to CA BON. From what I read here I thought it expired at 90 days but whenever I logged into NURSYS to have it sent-i would get message-already sent so I called up the nursys and they also said there are no 90 expiration date-once paid its good. Did not pay again and got my license.

So this is the response I got after sending in my complaint that when I applied in July it was a 6-8 week wait and now it's longer. I mailed my application in on 7/10/15. Please explain to me how if the time starts when the check is cashed (7/31/15) that I'm on week 2?? I should be on week 6.. Did the person accidently think it was August not September still? Grrr I feel so frustrated right now. I just want my license so I can work! I don't think that's too much to ask. I also feel like checking the BreEZe system is something I can do myself. This person did nothing!

"Thank you for contacting The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) regarding your RN application. On your behalf, we have checked the Boards BREEZE system regarding the status of your application. Your check shows cashiered as of 7/31/15. Once a check has been cashiered by the Board, it typically takes from 10-12 weeks for the application to then be evaluated and complete the process, (if there are other issues or problems this time line may exceed the 10-12 weeks). The issuance of a Temporary License timeline is currently at 8 to 10 weeks, but may be delayed if the application or fingerprint results indicate a prior conviction(s), or other basis for denial. (Currently your application is on week 2, if after 8 weeks you still have not received your temporary license you are welcome to re-email us regarding this issue.)"

Sincerely,

Thanks for letting me vent. It's just hard to not be able to work for 3+ months :(

After exactly 12 weeks of waiting. I finally received my California license which was endorsed from Texas. Application sent June 1, check cashed June 23, license posted Sept 15.

12 FREAKING WEEKS! So glad that's over with.

Hi Stephers8191,

how to send a complaint? I sent a complaint by Breeze website more than 10 day ago however I never got a response. I have sent in my application RN by endorsement on June 18th, however I am still waiting for the approval. I am so frustrated for the long waiting. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks a lot

Hi Shineyourway!

I sent my complaint to the CA Department of Consumer Affairs. They oversee the CA Board of Nursing as well as others. Here's the link to file a complaint with them, if you want to hear back be sure to not put anonymous í ½í¸‰

How to File a Citizens Comment/Complaint About The DCA - California Department of Consumer Affairs

P.S. I responded to the email that I received thanking them for responding but stated that I was confused on how they got 2 weeks instead of 6. They realized their error and said they'll look at my stuff again.. Fingers crossed but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

If you want to see my complaint for an example just let me know! :) Good luck!

Sorry if this was already asked, but for the live scan fingerprinting form they as for a CA drivers license number. If you visited CA from another state to complete this, what did you put in that section? Leave it blank or put your drivers license info from the state you live in?

I currently live in Phoenix and will be driving to CA on Saturday to get the fingerprints done but am unsure of what I should put in that space.

I left mine blank. The live scan person said that was fine, and when I called the DOJ hotline it sounded like there were no issues with my fingerprints.
