Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Starmickey03 I stil had my Iowa license when I did my livescan.. I'm pretty sure the lady there had me use my current license id or she left it blank. They'll tell you how to do it when you go though!

I left mine blank. The live scan person said that was fine, and when I called the DOJ hotline it sounded like there were no issues with my fingerprints.

Thank you both for your responses! I'll leave it blank and wait for instructions from the live scan tech on Saturday.

Well I was in Cali late Aug so I did the livescan while there. Im endorsing from IL and mailed my application the day after I got back (August 31). I sent mine by certified mail so I know it was recieved on Sept 4th. Still waiting for them to cash the check. Im not in a hurry because I don't plan on working in Cali until the summer. I heard getting a Cali license is a looooong wait so figured I'd get a jump on it.

I made a drive to CA on Saturday and had the live scan completed. Sunday night I mailed in my application using 2 day priority mail. It should be there Wednesday, I paid for the tracking number. I also completed the Nursys verification Sunday night. This morning I requested my transcripts to be sent. I know it's just a waiting game from here.

I was hoping to be able to move to the inland empire area in December, but I know that's not likely. My husband and I are more than ready to get out of Phoenix and buy a house in Corona but I'm scared to start the process without my license. ::sigh::

I have an AZ, MI, and TX license and none of those licenses took over a month to receive.

I sent my application, transcripts, nursys beginning of June. Breeze application date June 26. Flew into Sacramento in July and did Livescan fingerprints. Called weekly for any updates-none. Week 12 called and still nothing. The following Monday Sept 21 my license number on breeze! Already received my license in the mail. I have a FL and VA license. Took 3 months all together.

For those of you who sent transcripts from your non-nursing schools what did you put in the space on the request form where it asks for "name of professional registered nursing school"? I don't want to put the name of my nursing school in that space if I'm requesting records from my community college. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Is that the form that the schools are supposed to fill out (or at least the bottom half)? I think I let them just write it down because I don't remember having to put anything there. I could be wrong though. Sorry, that was probably not helpful.

Looks like they cashed my check on the 29th. Still not seeing anything about license pending however. Although from what I've read regarding the processing times that's probably to be expected.

At long last, I have my temporary license!!! Here's how my timeline went:

7/16 Transcripts and Nursys verification sent

7/17 Flew to LA to do Live Scan; mailed in completed application

8/6 Received email from Breeze, status pending open with missing education history

8/6 Check cashed

8/14 Called DOJ hotline, DOJ & FBI completed and reported to agency on 7/31

8/24 Status says open, no deficiencies listed

9/18 Called the BRN and left voicemail for supervisor, called again to speak to an actual person. He said they didn't have my fingerprints, but I told him I called the DOJ. So he said someone would "investigate" why I didn't have my temp license yet and that I'd get a call within 10 days

10/1 Called the BRN again because I never got a call back. The lady said they still don't have my fingerprints, referred me to the BRN website for processing times, which is 10-12 weeks for both Endorsement and Temporary license. I filed a complaint because I don't think it makes sense that the processing time is the same for both and I'm essentially losing $50.

10/2 Checked Breeze and the license number shows up for my Temporary License!

I don't think it's sunk in yet, but I'm definitely relieved that now I can continue planning my life!

I'd love to know which hospitals actually accept the temporary license. From what I've been reading so far no facility seems to accept it which actually makes the temp license a complete waste of money for all of us.

I haven't had any issues so far. I've had a few offers from facilities, and it hasn't been a problem.

How does the BreEze account work? I just sent my papers in to transfer my Michigan RN license to California and sent the Nursys verification today. Do I have to sign up for a BreEze account? Thanks!
