  1. Hi everyone, I have been following this post myself and I think I have read almost all 37 pages of it! I am currently an RN in Oregon and sent all my documents in end of Aug, my tracking told me this was all delivered 8/26. I had the transcripts mailed end of Aug as well from both of my schools and had my Nursys verification sent in around this time as well, after the app and everything was delivered, to help cover that 90 day mark for Nursys. My check has still not been cashed, I did call someone last week who told me that because I mailed it to the PO box (like instructed), it has to go through 3 more mailing systems and would be another 2 weeks. I should have sent it overnight to the main address Have been so anxious through this whole process. I also have a ticket to explain to them as well so I know there is that delay too. I really just want to get the check cashed because my biggest fear is that it got lost! So I am anxiously awaiting them to take my freakin money. I am trying to get down to California to be with my family and my boyfriend, I was hoping to be gone the new year but now I am afraid it wont be until March that I get my license, and then still have to look for a job at that point. I don't want to run into an issue where I get a job and don't have the license, so I decided to wait until I know its been issues to job hunt.
  2. Hello thank you for this info, I hope you are still following this thread! I have just started the process of getting my nursing license in Cali, but I have an MIP from when I was 18 back in 2008. It's a violation on my record and not a misdemeanor or a felony, however still reportable because it has to do with alcohol. Would you mind also emailing me your letter? I am getting some references from staff I work with at my current nursing job but as I wasn't rehabilitated or even made to take diversion, it's hard to provide counselor, AA references because I never utilized these resources. First and only offense. I have been trying to call the Cali board of nursing and I have not gotten feedback from them yet about this. Would appreciate any help I can get. Email is that'[email protected]
  3. Hello, I could really use feedback, I had an MIP my freshman year of college. Went to court for it and they did not have a diversion program, so I paid the fine. On future background checks including the one done for my nursing school, this did not show up. I also was able to get my Oregon nursing license without disclosing this, so I must have passed the national background check as well. This is my only infraction other than some minor speeding tickets and it has been 5 years. Of note, this was also not revealed in my background check for working at the VA and the private hospital I currently work at. My question is, I am not applying for my California nursing license and am starting to become worried about this. I wonder if California's background check is any different than the one Oregon did and if I am at risk for having them dig this up. It has never been a problem before and I figured it would never be since this seems to have dropped off of my record. Is the national background check through Oregon the same as through California? I believe this may be listed as a violation and not a misdemeanor, and possibly has fallen off my record.
