QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

"As you know at least three times I've been on the street protesting Trump and MAGA. The intensity of my loathing of them all scares me sometimes. "
That was one of the quotes that spurned me onto ask what makes a person a MAGA.
You offered this definition:
"For me it's relatively simple that MAGA as a noun is someone that believes supports and strives to make changes towards the MAGA (adjective) agenda."
Sounds to me that you loathe anyone who supports anything Trump is doing.
I don't see how that is spin. So, not sure why you're dizzy.
Fair enough.
QuoteSounds to me that you loathe anyone who supports anything Trump is doing.
This is the spin that's not true. But thanks for clarifying how you came to that conclusion.
Many many times I've said that I can understand mainstream conservative "responsible spending, etc".
I make a distinction, perhaps in my head, between MAGA individuals that I loathe, and conservative mainstream conservative republicans. I can look at a picture of someone like MTG or Stephen Miller and get almost physically ill I loathe that man.
Someone like Laura Loomer makes me sick. She recently posted "Can we normalize putting White people back in TV commercials? If you don't have white people in your commercial, I am not buying your product. I am tired of DEI commercials." She might as well post "I'm a racist". https://abcnews.go.com/US/operate-independent-agency-laura-loomers-pressure-campaigns-reshaping/story?id=124285112
These are the people, minority perhaps, that are reshaping the Republican Party that are MAGA.
Again, I have to reconcile that I live in a country that would vote in Trump.
Again, I don't think I've ever called you a MAGA. Unless you consider yourself a MAGA, I certainly don't mind, but your posts while they reflect support for Trump and his policies and you brush off a lot of his personality and lies, don't reflect you are of the MAGA type I loathe. I would probably put you on my blocked list if I felt that way.

I know. Who was the person in Trump 45 that called me a Trump supporter because of I tried to be open minded and not ugly. She liked horses and lived in Kentucky. She did not like me. But at least during that time I got some posters to stop saying "Cheeto".
That was a time we lived in a country that voted in Obama and I was a little more hopeful even though Trump won the presidency and MAGA hadn't reared its true colors yet.
Florida's DOGE is coming to the "Dem-run city" of Saint Petersburg to audit.
During covid there were many clashes between St. Pete and DeSantis.
It will be interesting because St. Pete is DEI has liaisons to various communities including and LGBT liaison. They also help fund the annual MLK parade and participate in Pride (one of the largest in the Southeast).
Stay tuned.
Trump meeting Putin next week. While he didn't end the war in 24 hours (I don't think any reasonable person thought he would) this would be a big deal if the US could broker an end.

Cheeto Mussolini definitely mocks both the fascist tendencies and the crazy orange makeup of our republican leader. He has earned and deserves mockery. Most people do not earn the mockery they endure.

Yes, he deserves mockery for the things he does but calling him "Cheeto" or "The Orange One" does not make for intelligent discourse between the adults here in my opinion. I'd rather use his real name.

We struggle to have "intelligent" discourse in these threads regardless of how we describe or mock the sex trafficking POTUS. Unless the conversation around Trump is flattering, his sychophants are certain that we are experiencing "TDS". That's generally because members who don't really want to be considered MAGA come to the defense of the MAGA leader or the MAGA agenda. Trying to defend the indefensible is frustrating and things get ugly. And there are members, like me, who feel zero obligation to be nice to fascists or their apologists as our republic is under assault by fascists.

If they are not charging the other countries the same as they are charging us, they are giving them a break. That is pretty much the definition of a break. But as I do not work in the pharmaceutical industry, I really don't know if they charge differently or if it is a case of their government subsidizing and fixing the price they will pay for the drug(s). OR if as you seem bent on believing, they just target Americans and say they are going to overcharge Americans, period. I do know that most of our meds are not made in the US. That in itself is a major problem.

I was interested to read your mention of the Holocaust. I have recently been thinking a lot about generational trauma and the role it's playing in the current violence.
Not at all. I have never equated the two -they are not the same, not even the same category (nazis are a party and movement, communism is a governing form. I was saying that neither of those two things were right-wing, and both of them were responsible for many millions of people suffering and dying. This is historical fact. This was in response to toomuchbaloney espousing his obvious hatred for the 'right wing' but seemingly being oblivious of what (evidently) his idea of who is 'good' in the world is. Sorry, but I was just making the point (in the whole post) that HUMANS are capable of great harm and evil, just as humans can be capable of great acts of kindness. One size does not fit all.

So you don't know, but you think that all other nations pay less than the USA for pharmaceutical products because the companies give them a break. You should offer up some data that supports your thinking and belief. I'll look forward to reading what you offer up.
Meanwhile, I'll contend that pharmaceutical drugs are cheaper here when our government advocates for lower pricing like other governments do. They are generally more expensive because our government prefers a very cruel type of trickle down capitalism.
toomuchbaloney said:The Nazis were far right, white nationalist extremists no matter the words they used to deceive the people. The Jewish people were victimized in that regime.
Now the Jewish people have their own state and their own right wing extremist government. They also have a group of innocent people that they are currently starving in retribution.
While cruelty is a human characteristic, it isn't that common. Most people develop their empathy and compassion as they socialize.
Cruelty is a found more often among right wing extremists and other authoritarian personalities than in the general population. Cruelty is also a feature of some mental illness, most notably narcissistic personality disorder.
OK, the far fight Nazi party that was the national socialist party that took over via fear. Got it. Guess the democrats were right-wing when they formed the Klan as well. Nevermind all the hate and threats that seem to come from the ultra-left in our own country right now, geared at anyone who does not toe the party line.
But self-deception is also a human trait. I'm not a psych major or minor. I dislike psych as a rule. The extreme lefties talk a game at inclusion while excluding everyone who doesn't walk lock-step. Even their own major supporters if they suddenly break with them on one point or other. I guess I asked for it all when I came into a political thread -my own fault. I'm as conservative as they come -usually comes from working for everything you get, and trying to keep it (your mileage may vary). I have great friends who are on the other side of the spectrum, we just don't talk politics (my wife is not conservative, and we have been married for over two decades and climbing -just no politics 🙂 ). Oh well. I think I'll tip my hat and bow out. This is time I should be on the Harley.
