QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Tax revenue could drop by 10 percent amid turmoil at IRS
Staff cuts and disruptions related to the U.S. DOGE Service have officials bracing for a sharp loss of revenue.
My best friend here is an accountant. During Trump's last administration he fired IRS workers. She told me then (I didn't know this) that the IRS provided special hot lines for CPA's with questions. In 2017, the wait times became long and the employees on the other end weren't up to the par she was used to. That got better during the Biden years and now accountants are back to 2017. If we can't collect taxes in a timely fashion, how can we fund a government? I believe that if 10% drops are correct, those losses for the IRS will be transferred to the botton 90% of taxpayers since our system has become more regressive and will sharply come even more true during a Trump administration. At the time that the huge penile chainsaw has gouged out the IRS, it will become more bewildering even to the professional CPA's. But, of course, Trump deliberately hires the know-nothing grifters for cabinet posts to create, precisely, this kind of chaos while he plays golf on the taxpayer's dime in Florida.
Bbb, Trump tells us that the drugs are coming from Canada (and thus, they are our enemy) rather than the other way around. This is the same situation that is happening on the southern border. Americans smuggling drugs from Mexico to supply the American demand. Here we have Canadians smuggling to meet the American demand. What is so wrong with our country that we need so much cocaine? Or is demand the same everywhere but the Americans will pay the most?

900 pounds of suspected cocaine seized at Blue Water Bridge
BY TRIBUNE NEWS SERVICE
More than 900 pounds of suspected cocaine was seized in two recent incidents on the Canadian side of the Blue Water Bridge, officials said.
They said the suspected drugs have an estimated street value of $11 million.
In the first incident, officers with the Canada Border Services Agency and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police seized 86 kilograms of suspected cocaine worth about $2.3 million from a commercial truck entering the country from the United States on Feb. 27.
Officials said they received a tip that the narcotics were being smuggled in and they stopped the suspect truck for a secondary examination. The truck's driver, Pawandeep Dhillon, 34, of Innisfil, Ontario, was arrested and faces drug trafficking charges, according to authorities.
A week later, Canadian agents stopped another truck coming into the country from the U.S. and conducted a secondary examination. Officials said they found 333 kilograms — worth about $9 million — of suspected cocaine in its trailer.
Its driver, Ravinderbir Singh, 23, of Brampton, Ontario, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, police said.
The two seizures are the latest instances of Canadian authorities stopping large amounts of illegal drugs from entering their country.

I guess it depends on if the courts buy into the idea that this "domestic terrorism" or merely protest vandalism. The terrorism charge would carry a stiffer sentence. It is ironic considering he pardoned people trying to overthrow and election and vandalized federal property in the process.

That "irony" is also known as hypocrisy. Trump supporters are practiced at ignoring hypocrisy while projecting and gas lighting their audience. It's so much more upsetting to them that Musk businesses are targeted for vandalism than the Capitol building.
QuoteQuote"We're not being honest when we look people in the eye and say we're not going to touch it. If we don't touch it, it touches itself,” Curtis told "Meet the Press" moderator Kristen Welker. "You know that, right? That's not being honest with the American people, and I think that's one of the things that makes them not trust us, when we say something that they just know is not true.”
Quote"We all need to say, those in retirement and those near retirement, we're not going to touch it, you're safe. But let's have that conversation, because my kids don't think they're going to get it,” he said. "So why can't we have a conversation with them about moving some of the variables around, and the sooner we do it, the less dramatic it has to be.”
"If we don't do it, we have worse decisions thrust upon us,” he added.
This guy has figured out that when you lie to people with impunity they will stop believing what you say. Unless you are Trump or Musk.
Quote"It doesn't make any sense,” said DeSantis, when asked about Scott's suggestion. "If Florida were to send the money back, [Treasury Secretary Janet] Yellen is going to send it to Illinois, California, New York or New Jersey. I don't think that would make sense for Floridians — for us to be giving even more money to the blue states that already getting such a big windfall in this bill.”
DeSantis has had a change of heart and returned the over $878 million that he claims he's been trying to return for years, even though he was quoted that it didn't make sense. I guess he's now confident the money won't be funneled into blue states. He doesn't say what the "ideological strings" that were holding him up were.
Quote"For years, Florida has been trying to return federal funds to the federal government due to the ideological strings attached by the Biden Administration—but they couldn't even figure out how to accept it. Today, I met with Elon Musk and the DOGE team, and we got this done in the same day. Other states should follow Florida in supporting DOGE's efforts,”
I don't have an opinion. I know Florida's lock down ended ahead of a lot of states and the money wasn't spent and he couldn't find a way to spend it. I guess the "for years" started after he said he wasn't going to return it. Good on him.
To be honest, I didn't know Musk had a trans daughter or fathered 14 children.
None of my business but he posted about "woke mind virus" which intrigued me. Apparently DeSantis used the term during his ill-fated campaign for President and Musk a couple of years ago said Disney was infected with it.
Quote"I lost my son, essentially,” Musk said. He used Wilson's birth name, also known as a deadname for transgender people, and said she was "dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”

Well aware as Musk trans daughter and large # children well reported on CNN, MSNBC and ABC news reports when talking about LGBTQIA issues and Trumps statement gonna cover in vitro fertilization services.

QuotePresident Donald Trump said Monday that the U.S. will impose 25% tariffs on countries that buy oil and gas from Venezuela, as he seeks to increase pressure on President Nicolas Maduro and China.
QuoteNearly 500,000 fewer travellers crossed the land border from Canada into the U.S. in February compared to the same month last year, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the latest sign that President Donald Trump's taunts and tariffs have shaken bilateral relations.

QuoteGreenland Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede slammed second lady Usha Vance's trip to the Arctic island this week with a delegation of other U.S. officials as being part of the Trump administration's "very aggressive" pressure campaign to take over the semiautonomous Danish territory.
I can't help but wonder if anything is up Trump's sleeve because it doesn't sound like Greenland is going to become a US Territory willingly.
