This is great. All 3 of my kids went to the school where I work. However, they had moved on prior to me getting this job.
Like OldDude, I still can visualize them here at school. I spent a lot of time here when they were little. I remember thinking the nurse job here would be nice to have. ![]()
I know!!
I think I will DIE when my daughter leaves for high school! Most days she gives me a grin and a wave as her 6th grade class passes but I just LOVE it when she stops by and gives me a hug or asks for something from my bag or fridge!
Yesterday her bra strap broke (HA!) and I loved that I was right here and able to safety pin it together. I called her "ghetto bra" for the remainder of the day then we stopped to buy her new sports bras on the way home.![]()
Turns out those little spaghetti straps don't cut it for the athletic kids.
Wow, your teenager wanting to chat - definitely take advantage of that! My daughter will be in kindergarten here next year. That was one of the best perks in taking this job! At her daycare/preschool events I have always been working, which made me feel bad. But now for the next 6 years I will be here for it all! ![]()

There are quite a few reasons to love being a school nurse, but -
My 15 year old comes down to my office every day during his study hall to grab a snack from "his" cupboard. He sits and visits for awhile....he's a teenager - I'll take any visiting time I can get!
My 12 year old daughter also stops in when she doesn't like lunch, and grabs a snack. She also emails me throughout the day for things she needs, things she is working on , etc.
And, my 10 year old is out for recess right now. He just came and knocked on my window. I slid it open and had a quick visit through the screen.
I'm not a helicopter parent - but being here when my kids want to talk....I couldn't ask for anything better!!
