Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
Love this thread, its amazing how many of us seem to have the same students in our classes8. I work 40 hours a week, go to school full time, and am a single mother. I have an A. You so not work, you are a part time student, stop complaining that you are struggling because your husband only watches your child for a few hours a night while you study
OMG! Thank you!!! This one rocks!!!
Basically everything I would have liked to have said has been posted already.
I think the best part of this whole thing is that we all are probably the recipient of a couple of these comments and it makes you sit back and think twice about certain behaviors.
I for one love to here everyone's grades after the exams. Hehehe!!
Today was my first day in NS and I swear I REALLY wanted to say this TODAY!
Do you REALLY need to keep reapplying topical Benedryl in class, in the front during lecture. And if you are that itchy, why the hell haven't you been to the Dr?
You're recording the lecture, I'm recording the lecture. If I can here your PENCIL squeaking across the page, surely YOU can. Either use a pen or take notes FROM THE LECTURE YOU'RE RECORDING at home with your squeaky pencil. And yes, I can here your pencil squeaks on the recorded lecture, thanks!
On a positive note:
I've never been surrounded by a more diverse group of people. It takes me out of my comfort zone which is unsettling to me, but welcome.
The energy of my class is really dynamic and seemingly self perpetuating...lets keep it up for 16 months guys!!
I really hate the hyper-competetivness in my class especailly at the expense of other students. Everybody want to be #1, but we have one really brilliant guy, so sorry, he's # 1. Get over yourselves!!!!
I also hate how someone does something good and you can feel the envy in the air. I say kudos to that person and I watch the eyes roll!!!
We have 22 people in my class who have children so they have to do what they have to do. I don't have children so I'm going to learn Spanish in Guatemala this summer. You should hear the snotty remarks I get!
And about helping someone else, today was our second day of clinicals and two students poached my patients!!! One was posted that she was mine, but the other wasn't, she was a late admit. I got such attitude from these students that I said forget it, and talked to the CI, who moved me to another floor and I worked with a great nurse.
My CI wonders why I don't hang out with my fellow students and it's because they whine, are two-faced, ungrateful and down right nasty, why would I? It's students like these that will go on to "eat their young."
(I have other friends in the class, thank gawd, just not my clinical group).
Gawd, I cannot wait until I get out of nursing school. All the nurses I've worked with are wonderful and nice and so are the aides. But again, I'm in the minority.
in no particular order:
You dress like a hooker. I do not understand who taught you that gold stilettos were an OK thing to wear to class.
You NEED to wear clothes that fit you..coming to class with your gut and love handles hanging out is NASTY.
Hey you smokers...YOU STINK!! I KNOW you are addicted and it keeps you awake but you smell AWFUL and I hate it! I think I will start wearing EXTRA perfume and hopefully it will distract me from your nasty cloud.
Just because there is a guy in our class that does not mean he is interested in YOU. I know some of you random whores do not feel complete unless a guy is paying attention to you but seriously stop it.
Making fun of said boy JUST because he is a boy is lame..maybe you are flirting...either way it's just lame and your husband would think so too.
You over there the couple that is married but not to each other...you have SPOUSES at home...cheating with your lab partner is tacky and sad. Can't wait till you all meet at graduation....should be a Jerry Springer episode.
Hey girl in the front who asks the dumbest questions of all time...if you weren't sitting in the front you would SEE that EVERY time you open your mouth we all look at each other and go "oh no not another one"
my girls- I love my girls. I can't believe I am so lucky to have met you all, I will miss you over the summer.
Chick with the super big bag...you never even take your books out. NEVER..I don't know why you hit us all with that damn bag every day when you NEVER even open it up.
That's all I have for now...that felt good. Thanks :)
haha, these are wrong but funny..but mine are
when students complain about A's like, what more do you want a ******* holiday named after you...excuse my language...
2.) Ok, we know u have kids and its rough, but you aren't special and u have to suffer with the rest of us...i hate when ppl with kids are always asking the clinical instructor if they can leave early, and saying stupid remarks towards ppl w/o kids..stop hating...
To the ppl in my med surg class: please stop spreading rumors about whose failing or passing, because that can b you one day...i hate it when ppl, are constantly talking about whose getting kicked out, whose failing, mind our own business and worry about yourself!
hmmm..i know i have many more... just can't think about it right now..
Ok, yeah...TO the guy that sits in the front in med-surg:
Please see a doctor about your hackling cough...
Please stop asking me how i keep such high averages...its very simple..its called OPENING the BOOK...
PPl that i've meant: everyone is cool and nice...see u next semester!
To my clinical groups: we started out rocky...but finished strong...i wish i could keep the same clinical group through all 4 semesters! :redbeathe:crying2: I'll miss u guys...
1. Stop coming to test sessions 20-30 minutes late. You are a distraction to me and everyone else.
2. Don't say our school needs to be more tolerant that you're a foreign student. You need to learn to speak English.
3. I can't stand how rude you are to people. Coming" up to me and poking me and saying "gimmie the med room keys is just plain rude. Learn my name and ask politely. We've only been in the same clinical site since January.
4. Stop chewing your chips in the middle of lecture. It's loud and annoying.
5. When the professor takes a 5 minute break that is not the time to start a 20 minute session with her. I came to learn not to hear your stories.
6. I don't care you work on an oncology floor as a tech. You are not a nurse so stop referring to work.
7. Stop cheating on tests. It makes you look bad and I sure as hell don't want a cheater as my nurse.
Whew that felt good
2. Don't say our school needs to be more tolerant that you're a foreign student. You need to learn to speak English
You have no idea how much i have wanted to say that to some of the people in my group. They have next to no 'english' speaking skills yet they want to get into nursing, I mean good for them that they want a career in this, but how can you be a nurse if you cant speak the language? I dnt speak french
(apart from about 8 words) so i wouldnt be able to be nurse in a french speaking country. There is enough of a barrier with the techinical terms of nursing let alone having another barrier there.Especially when our placements are mainly with elderly people who have problems understanding basic english.
