Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
Turn your cell phone off, or at least put it in vibrate mode.
Don't come in late, leave early, then expect your classmates to bend over backwards to answer questions on what you missed or to give you notes.
I am your classmate, not your best friend. It isn't really appropriate to give me a blow by blow account of every fight you've had recently with your soon to be ex-husband, or to tell me how much your boyfriend spent on "on-line" dating or how much you are in debt. I'm sure it's interesting but I'm in class to learn, not to be your therapist.
Yes, it's fair for the instructor to ask test questions on info that wasn't included in his/her notes. It's called a text book; use it.
Yes, the teacher really does expect you to turn in assignments on time, even though you weren't in class for two weeks. How do they expect you to know that that assignment was due? It's written right on the syllabus; you know, that bright yellow packet you received the first day of class.
If you want to have a conversation while the instructor is lecturing then step into the hall. Some of us are here to learn what's being taught, not to discuss what's happened in another class that we're not even enrolled in.
thanks for this opportunity:
1. to some of my fellow students: thank you for being easy to work with and fun to learn with.
now for the frustrating getting it off my chest stuff:
2. i will never again share a project to 'compare' a 'vague' assignment...do your own work.
3. it is so wonderful that you work in a hospital as a tech or assistant or whatever but you are not my teacher ..for whom i have paid a lot of money to listen to; not you.
4. do you really think it is wise to let yourself take rx relaxers on occasion or have a drink before a test when you are a nursing student? i will keep up with where you work and will not let you ever take care of me or someone i care about. i know its stressful, but buy some ice creame or go swimming.
5. buy your own books and use them from time to time.
6. yes we are a 'close group' but i paid my own tuition and my grades come in my name: every single thing is not a x@#! group project.
i admit i've been in a bad mood today, frustrated with new classes already; but it feels great to say these things that you can't really say....
great idea thanks
I love this thread, I have been LMAO reading all these!!!But of course I have a few of my own. . .
2. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, stop coming early to class on exam day and then you and your friend quiz each other outloud all the notes for the exam. Its extremely annoying and all I want to do is slap the s*** out of you.
That is my favorite. Hahahah. Makes my hand twitch with desire to slap a few people just thinking about it. (but I would not)
I can't add anything you guys covered it all.
This made me giggle.
Please don't ask for my care plans, pharm notes, etc. I did our whole group presentation literally and it p---es me off that you are going to get benefit of the 97 % I work full time and it took my whole weekend same with my care plans and client studies and psych papers please do your own work
There are some great ones on here! Who knew we all had the same frustrations!
As for me...
Stop asking me how I get such high grades on my care plans and then ask me to borrow my book! If you purchased a book and used it you too would do well!!! :smackingf
Also, don't show up to pre-clinical conference late EVERY week with a new excuse when you have a starbucks or jamba juice in your hand! Everyone knows why you were late!
Last, just because you procrastinated doesn't mean that I have to help you! I did my assigments on time...why should I be punished?!
Hopefully this vent will get me through second year...
1. "Yes, I got another A. No, I don't mind telling you what I got. Gosh, I'm sorry you got another C. No no, go on and tell the rest of the class what I got, but make yourself feel better by saying mean things about me. Your bullying will not break me down."
2. Just because you got a bad grade doesn't mean the instructor is out to get you. I got an A, and others did too. Just because our last instructor spoon-fed us the material that will be on the tests doesn't mean this one should too. Oh, and I think it's time to stop arguing an exam question when the instructor gives you the answer's page number and paragraph in the textbook and tells you to look it up.
3. Oh dear god shut up about your kids already. I'm sure "little Johnny" is absolutely adorable to you, but he sounds like a spoiled brat to me. I'm going to keep counteracting your adorable kid stories with one of my adorable cat stories until you get the hint.
4. No, I may not be as adept as you at cleaning up poop or transferring patients, but I'm learning and taking these responsibilities seriously. You may have done your task in half the time it takes me, but my patient is smiling and laughing when we're done. Yours can't wait for you to leave the room. Oh yeah, and I'm not behind in my patient care, I'm actually spending time with my patient instead of bunching up with the rest of you in the hall!
5. Thank you to the rest of my class for being positive and supportive.
i really don't know where to begin! maybe i am older and have a pet peeve with the deaf morons in the back...this is my message to them...
i really am not going to bozo's school of nursing, they just forgot to tell some that applied that adults go to college and children are still holding mommies hand in pre-school!
[i really am not going to bozo's school of nursing, they just forgot to tell some that applied that adults go to college and children are still holding mommies hand in pre-school!
that is hysterical; are you serious with those?!! i'm sure its not bozo's school but i have to tell you....some people just don't get it; college, that is !!!!
1. It been over a year ago you really need to get over it and quit trying to get me in trouble with clinical instructors. Yeah genius I know it was you!
2. Shut up during class! The person next to you failed because you were running your yap during the first semester.
3. Since when did you get your masters and be allowed to critque the performance of your fellow students.
4. I repeat it is not high school!!!!
5. I thank god I have my degree and no longer have to deal with your BS.

1. "Grades are not the ONLY thing that matter... Employers will look at your outside activities, memberships in professional organizations, etc. Just because you got a 90% on your test and I got an 85%, it doesn't mean you are 'better' and will get all of the job offers."
2. "This isn't high school/middle school."
3. "If you ask me what grade I got one more time, I'm going to clean the floor with you" (just kidding) :)
Best,
