  1. I just passed last week with 75 questions and no calculation questions.
  2. I live in Colorado and there is a limited supply of New grad positions out here. Way more students graduating than New grad positions. I decided to apply all over the country and be willing to work just about anywhere to get some experience. Interestingly enough I ended up getting a new grad position in Oregon. So now I'm planning a move.
  3. Are you willing to relocate?? I posted my resume and profile on a couple of the internet job sites and had lots of hospitals and recruiters calling me and setting up interviews for me. I also applied to tons of jobs all over the country and interviewed just to get the experience. Just go to those sites and type in new grad, new graduate, or internship in the search field. I was willing to relocate to get my foot in the door. Not sure if your in the same situation. There were also some hospitals willing to set up interviews for jobs that were not specifically for new grads.
  4. When you fill out your FAFSA you don't have to count a house you own if it is your primary residence. This may help you. The only problem is they go off the previous years taxes which can hurt if you were working full-time previously. Your second year of nursing school might be a bit better with the financial aid. I ended up using a private loan to subsidize my other grants and government loans to pay the mortgage. It's going to bite me in the but here in a couple months when I have to start repaying. I think it was all worth it to go into a bit of debt for my degree. Fill out your FAFSA and talk to your financial aid advisor at your school first.
  5. It was the 2007 Form B, whatever that means. We took all the practice tests throughout the program and had to review and take notes in any category that was 50% or below after creating a focused review, they call it remediation. All the practice tests had a minimum score we had to pass by or do remediation and have one chance to retake it. Everyone had to pass the comprehensive predictor in the 99% chance of passing level or do remediation and have one more chance to take it. I personally never had to retake a test and always made the benchmark, but still would have remediation at times. I didn't study at all for the predictor, I wanted to see where I was at without studying. I thought the predictor was much easier than any of the exams we had in the nursing program!! If your worried I recommend going back to yhour practice tests and creating focused reviews and studying that material. I found the answers I missed were always in the focused review. Hope this helps.
  6. Just got done taking the comprehensive ATI predictor and got and 82% which puts me in the 99% chance of passing NCLEX!!! I sure hope this thing is an accurate predictor. I thought the questions were way easier than any exam questions we ever had. Just a couple more weeks to go!!!
  7. as far as i can tell there is no restriction on a new grad getting licensure in oregon. i also am looking to relocate there once i graduate in may. you actually talked to the state board of nursing?? let me know if you find out anything else. thanks and good luck!! check out this link. http://www.osbn.state.or.us/osbn/rn-lpnlicensure.shtml#rn_lpn_endorsement_into_oregon you must have worked as a nurse, at the level for which you are seeking license or above, for at least 960 hours during the last five years. exceptions: if you graduated from an osbn-approved nursing program with a degree appropriate for the licensure level you seek within the last five years, you are eligible for endorsement.
  8. Thanks for the reply! Our search has been taking us to other areas of the country and now we have no idea where we will end up. We're keeping up the search and we'll see where it takes us.
  9. I didn't think you gave Adenosine for VTach. I thought it was only for SVT. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. What was your percentile score and Level of proficiency?? Those are more important that your actual percentage score. Which test was it?? Considering the national mean on a lot of these tests is in the 60s I would consider an 80% to be a pretty good score. I just got an 88% on the pharm test and that put me in the 99th percentile and a level 3 proficiency with no focused review material. The national mean was 60!! Don't be too hard on yourself you did fine.
  11. 70% Exams 10% Final Exam 10% Care plans 10% Quizzes and "other projects". Also we have to maintain a 77% or above on Exams in order to sit for the Final Exam and pass the class.
  12. I am also a bit curious about Loveland/Fort Collins area. I'll be graduating in May and am looking to relocate to a progressive community that is good to raise a family in with ample outdoor activites. Been looking at PVH and MCR. Anyone familiar with these hospitals?? Do they hire New Grads outside of their "New Grad" Positions. As of now there are no New Grad openings. I'll be taking a trip out there for Thanksgiving to check the area and hospitals out. Any other suggestions for employment?? I have an EMS and ER tech background with lab experience and urgent care clinic experience and would ideally like to get a job in an ER. Do you think my experience would count towards an ER position right of School?? Anyway, sorry to mooch on your post but it was good timing. Would love to hear any info you all could tell me about Fort Collins/Loveland and the area hospitals. Thanks!!
  13. I'm in an RN program but we have the option to take the NCLEX PN after the first year if we take an additional "Transition into Practical Nursing" class. Some students opted out of the class and are just waiting until graduation to take the NCLEX. A few took the class to sit for the NCLEX PN to get an idea of what the test will be like and also to get some nursing experience in the meantime. This is in Colorado. The class is really easy, but requires 100 or so clinical hours.
  14. Ooops forgot the "a" in and. Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anyone in here has any information on Delta County Memorial Hospital and/or Montrose Memorial Hospital. I'll be graduating in May and am looking to relocate, possibly near one of these hospitals. I'd like to get a job in an ER if possible. I have an EMS background and also worked as an ER tech for a while and currently work in an urgent care clinic as an LPN. Anyone know what the chances would be getting hired on in the ER as a New Grad?? Anything you could tell me about the hospitals and the towns would be great. Look forward to a response.
