  1. You can put whatever value you like on my comments given that I got into PCC, but declined and dropped out of nursing all together. Do you have any volunteer time on record? That might be your best bet and/or take over whatever classes you didn't get A's in. I know the latter stinks, but it's crazy competitive. I take it you don't have a 4yr degree yet. I think something like 40% or more of the PCC nursing students have a BA/BS. That helps. How about a CNA cert? Do you have one of those? That's always good for a point, and more if you have CNA work experience.
  2. Sure thing. I hope you and everyone here enjoys the adventure.
  3. Pulling out altogether. I won't attend any program.
  4. Some lucky person will get a call today or tomorrow as I've just notified PCC that I will not be attending its nursing program. Best of luck to everyone. K
  5. Going to a non accredited school is like buying a car w/o a warranty. You can certainly do what you want, but it's not the smart move in my book. Heck, I got into a nursing program for this Fall and it's unlikely I'll even attend anyway.
  6. pjcna27, My no BS answer is go to a school with current accreditation.
  7. Care1, Your self-deprecating reply struck me as childish. As for all of those 'important' questions you posted, they struck me as pointless. Why is it important for me to know how long it takes another student to complete a program? Why is it important for me to know the graduation rate? I'm concerned with 'my' performance, not another student. Half the students in my first A&P class took it for a second time to get an 'A'. Was that to mean it was going to take me two attempts? No. I'm sure there's plenty of tea at ITT for you to drink. I suggest you savor it at the price it's offered. $30K+ for an associates degree? Sheer insanity.
  8. I'll toss my two bones into this conversation. As I've mentioned a number of times, a good friend of mine recruits in the med industry; primarily MD's and NP's. He too, is a former NP. His advice to me was to stay away from 'for profit' schools such as ITT. First, they're too dang expensive, and second, it's all about pedigree and ITT doesn't have it. If you're going to drop a load of cash, do it at OHSU. Unfortunately, the med profession is a 'club', so one has to make sure they go to the 'right' schools.
  9. yellow6t, For what it's worth, I did submit my acceptance today.
  10. Yes, you have it correct. I think I will say OK to PCC, then see what happens. Just wanted to get some public opinion.
  11. This question is specific to PCC. The short story is that a job offer in the six figure range will be coming down the pipeline around mid July. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and decline it, particularly in this economy. At the same time, PCC wants a decision by the 15th this month. Does one have to put a down payment on classes there like many have had to do at OHSU and other private schools?
  12. I imagine a number of people are like me. I haven't decided to accept yet at PCC. I probably won't until the 15th. Too many things to consider and think through.
  13. Thanks for posting. I was wondering about this story.
  14. It's not that I would expect Kaiser to make an announcement, it's that I would expect at least a few of those 700 to contact a news station to get support for their cause. All it would take is one person out of 700. This is what I find hard to believe; that being, not one person has done it. I guess time will tell though.
