You got this backward. Using the Valsalva maneuver would be contraindicated in a patient with ICP.

I use the otoscope quite regularly for patients with ear impactions who need ear washes. After I get a big chunck out I check to see if I need to continue. On the other hand I rarely use the opthalmoscope.
