Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
I am loving this post! Here are mine:
1. Ok people, fractions and decimals are not ROCKET SCIENCE!!
2. Do you have your degree yet? If not, could you let the professor TEACH the class?
3. Yes I read the chapters, Yes I did the homework, No I cannot GIVE you the answers!!
4. This is an accelerated class, if you want someone to hand-walk you through every chapter, you should go to a CC and take the pre-reqs.
5. I didn't pay this much money to hear about your boyfriend being upset you are in school!! SMDH!!:anbd:
6. If you are so smart then why are we still stuck on a PROBLEM that YOU cant seem to get hold of..oh yeah u do know that we are in chapter 10 and your question is from chapter 4?????
7. I am not here to make friends..I have plenty of those..I am here to get my degree so I can move on to be a CRNA...what are YOU here for???
8. Seriously boo...I don't care that you microbraided your own hair...can you please shut up and pay attention..oh yeah, and stop copying off my paper....
Stop having side conversations, just sitting by you makes me lose IQ points.Stop sharing a personal experience with every three words the teacher says. You've had personal struggles with diarrhea? Great! Keep it to yourself, no one gives a crap!(No pun intended).
PLEASE TAKE A SHOWER!
Do not argue with the teacher about an answer.............for 20 minutes..............
Just because I'm civil with you does not mean we're friends.
I don't care about your sex life, for the love of God, don't ask me about mine.
Years down the road, if I am ever in the hospital and YOU walk in, I will physically remove you from my room and sign out AMA.
Tell me this is not all the same person...
I have a new one:
Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it is unfair. When you complain about the stuff you don't like as well as the stuff that is truly unfair, it makes it easy to overlook your legitimate complaints about the program and reduces the likelihood that those legitimate complaints will be taken in to consideration.
1. Please learn to do laundry. If you leave your uniform in the washing machine for three days, yes, it will be dry when you remove it. It will also smell like mildew. Even after ironing. And so will you.
2. I'm not being a jerk because I don't want to study with you. I'm old enough to know that I don't study well in a group setting. It's not personal, so don't make it personal.
3. Please don't tell me that you have been an alcoholic since age 14 and just had your felony DUI reduced to a misdemeanor and then sign up for my clinical site and ask me to carpool. That means I not only have to do all the driving, but I have to be in the car with you. By the way, you're either going to be withdrawing at the clinical site or be intoxicated, so I'm obviously going to have to tell the instructor to keep an eye on you. Moron.
4. Please don't tell the class about Uncle Abner's hemorrhoids or Aunt Agnes's diabetes. We know you're very experienced with all forms of human illness. You are special. I will bring you the cookie tomorrow. Also, if you insist on doing this, please don't *stand up* to "make sure the whole class can hear" you.
* Yes you have kids. I know it can be hard to look after them and study. But most people in the class have kids... Yours is not a special case. You don't get special privileges.
* I don't want to hear "my brothers girlfriends dads friends baby had this disease..." ever again !!!
* Don't have a go at the other students in class because they haven't started their assignments yet. Just because you finished your assignment the day it was handed out doesn't mean we are lazy or stupid.
* If you get something wrong, it's not because the teacher is a b*itch. It's because you didn't write the correct answer.
* Just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm stupid or inexperienced. I have more medical experience than you do.
* I know you are trying to be nice when you say "Come sit with the adults"..but...seriously...it's patronizing. I know I'm only 22 but I don't go home and play with barbie dolls. I also have bills and rent to pay, a family to look after etc.
There is one women in my class who drives me nuts ! She refuses to work with anyone but one other girl...because no one is "smart enough" for her...they both sit their and bask in their own glory all day... And when she is forced into groups with others by our teachers for group projects she will re-write everyone elses work because she doesn't think it's up to her standards. But the thing is, it's often detrimental to her grades !
When you sit in class/clinical and talk about going out for/needing margaritas at every opportunity (including at clinicals in front of the real nurses)...you sound like you have a problem -- or that you are a teenager. You are over 50 and about to become a professional. So, cut it out or don't do it around me -- I don't want to be associated with that sort of remark at a place where I may apply for a job.
